You haven't heard the saying "All it takes is one punch"? Everyone can get hurt even Canelo. It's really sad that people look at old fights of a fighter and try to make an argument why they aren't good now. Take for example Muhammad Ali, he was dropped several times before he became an World champion and still went of to become one of the greatest fighters that ever lived. The past is the past and you should focus on how he looks now against BETTER opponents.
Yeah he was. But never against someone as bad as Jose Cotto. He also fought better competition very early on his career. I've already mentioned this in another post. Cassius Clay fought way better opposition early on in his career in 10 fights than Alvarez has.
"new fans" you say? DOC, you admittingly dont even know who ****ing DONALD CURRY is, dumb****. do i need to pull this thread where you got **** on? where you admitted to being a troll?
a definate possibliity. miguel cotto was rocked many times at 140 and arum attributed it to the cut and was apparantly right as miguel successfully withstood far more punishment at 147 and 154. i would be more concerned with the dlh suspect matchmaking and the ggg sparring session that canelo was on ***** street with full headgear and 16-18 ounce gloves than this cotto video. there is no way dlh puts canelo in with james. cotto is a much safer fight as miguel rally hasnt shown jmw power at 154. someone is getting ko'd in a kirkland fight and its not worth the risk. cotto is not koing canelo as he has never even kod top ww's.
the best thing for canelo is that he shouldve never been handed the wbc belt as he wouldnt be receiving any of this hate. and trying to compare canelo with jr is absurd. chavez actually fought a legit and undefeated 160 zbik for the belt and not a blown-up 147 hatton(who had never previously fought at 154) at a catchweight. he then went on to fight ranked and seasoned veteran rubio, a gimmie with manfredo, once-defeated and steward protegee andy lee and then pfp candidate sergio. these four guys were a collective 16-0 in their previous four fights and all four of these fights took place at 160 lbs, the mw limit. after securing the wbc belt canelo beat rhodes, gomez cintron, mosely and lopez. these five guys had a collective 14-19 record but only one of these fighter fought their previous fight at the 154 limit, that being ryan rhodes. the other four fighters fought their previous three fights at either 147, 140 or 150 catchweights(mosely being the only exception at 154 versus mora). here in mexico, there were no televisions in the bars showing the canelo/lopez fight. understandably, it was all chavez/martinez.
Kirk, I already answered your question in a previous post. Miranda was drained from weight hopping against Ward, and he was an inferior opponent. Arthur Abraham is not a real smw. Canelo got rocked by a journeyman. Atleast when Ward got in trouble with Darnell Boone he was more green in the pros than Alvarez was against Jose Cotto. It was his seventh pro fight. Carl Thompson had genuine knockout power throughout his career, and was actually a test for David Haye, who was still on his way to stardom. J.Cotto was essentially his first ''name'' on his list. Maybe they regarded him to his brother standards when they chose him, or maybe not. Chop Chop lost a SD against Judah before fight Mayweather. He was and perhaps still is a very formidable opponent. So Chop Chop rocking Cotto means nothing in conjunction to my thread. Chop Chop gives anyone a tough fight. And he can still hang with the Maidanas of this world btw.
did you see how that fight ended ? cotto died and came back on those ropes when canelo was punching him
Alvarez made a lightweight/welterweight come up to fight him at 149 150, and gets rocked early by him. And yeah, i saw the whole fight. He just relied on his strength throughout the fight to win. He was naturally the bigger man. I mean he had superior height and reach advantage by a good three inches. And people still say he was green. It was his 33rd professional fight on paper. Not to mention the unsanctioned fights he supposedly had. I won't make excuses for him. If he can bring exciting fights thats the only thing which matters. At the end of the day he ended up winning the fight but he struggled early against a lightweight/welterweight who went upto 149 150 to fight him. If that was a regular 154 pounder, or a regular 147 pounder who is accustomed to the weight and caught him like that against the ropes he would have been koed. He would have had to put his hands up against someone as strong as him, or he would have been koed. This guy's no Chavez Sr. He can't get away with that as his chin is nowhere near as good. You could see his legs buckle, and he then backed away. Against a much smaller man.
You must be a troll.. Alvarez is 22 and developing all the time.. Name me a one or more fighters that have a better resume than Canelo at that age. I mean you don't know **** about boxing if you are so shocked about being rocked :nut You are crying about Mosley victory but u remember that Mosley rocked Mayweather? Mosley had no answer at all against Canelo and Canelo is 22 and getting better and better
