a good fighter, was another Scottish hope. better than Burns, but sadly he doesn't hail top spots to his many great predecessors from the hardened north... you could see the vulnerabilities in his last few fights, he took some punishment and looked on the brink a few times. I don't think there's a whole lot left in him to be honest. He's not Scotland's top dog, but good all the same. Good Luck to him.
Hope you are fishing!! A future Hall of Fame Entrant regardless of what lay in store for him post 22 May 2021. You won't take too long to list the historic 10 great men who held all 4 belts in their division and may I add nearly all fighters look vulnerable when past their sell by date including the late Muhammed Ali, arguably the greatest of all time. Josh Taylor will go down as one of the ATG British Boxers. Chris Eubank once said 'Boxthing is a brutal business' and you may want to have a closer look at Josh Taylor's pro career up to 22 May 2021.
Yeah whilst judging Taylor you need to look at his accomplishments and any debate on his ability is over really, he is one of the best from Britain and/or Scotland without doubt
Fabulous career up to the Catterall fight when injuries started to take their toll. Stand up fighter, hope he retires now otherwise more defeats are in his future.
Spot on mate. That run he had was legendary. World title in 15 fights, unified & WBSS winner in 16, undisputed in 18. We won’t get another like him from these shores.
Yes Taylor is probably a top 5, maybe even top 3 Scottish fighter of all time and will go down as British Great.
Went along to the a live recording last week of Buncey interviewing Josh Taylor for his Five Live show. It was a really fun night and Josh was in great form. Came across very likable and funny and still seems to have a lot of energy and desire for fighting. He surprised me by saying he still sees himself continuing on at 140lbs. He welcomed a Conor Benn fight which I would love and also said his dream now is to become world champion again at Easter Road (Hibs stadium). I know he has his critics on here but I think talk of him being washed are a bit much. He’s only lost to Lopez and Jack and the 2nd Jack fight was very close and a good fight. I’d like to see him get back to winning ways. I got photo’s with Josh & Buncey after the recording. They were both really nice and seemed genuinely happy with the large crowd that turned up and the reaction for Josh.
Looked a good turnout mate especially for a midweek night. I know he rubs people up the wrong way but I think Taylor is sound. Doesn’t put on an act or try to come across as someone he’s not.
I don't think the second Catterall fight was very close. It was competitive but Catterall was a clear winner, as he was in the first match. I agree that there are some good matches to be made but how many depends on whether he is able to win the first competitive match back. If he loses again I find it hard to see him being motivated and confident enough to be anything like himself, especially at 34. Taylor gives great interviews and doesn't seem to be fake or trying to be something he's not.
