Pulev is another terrible boxer. Anyone with a reach advantage and a half decent jab would smash his face in. Defence is wide open, Klitschko showed how bad it is. Another prime example of the fat old tart heavyweight boxer.
Tony Thompson, Ustinov and Dimitrenko all had significant reach advantages over him and came up short. He's not glamorous, but he's bloody tough to beat.
A 'world champion ' is meant to fight the best challengers in the division. Breazeale is terrible lol. Here's a few fighters that would've been a better test for AJ. Luis Ortiz Kubrat Pulev (could've made this for July) Bermane Stiverne Alexander Ustinov Malik Scott Bryant Jennings
Well, Pulev was tied up in a fight with Chisora and none of the others you mention are in the IBF's top 15. I think the fight is a bit weak too, but given the IBF's rankings he wasn't really blessed with a plethora of credible options.
Parker is the most dangerous guy in the IBF scheme, but Pulev is a step up from Breazeale. Dereck would beat up Breazeale.
There is no way Eddie puts his boy in with Pulev this year. They will not take any risks whatsoever with the cash cow whilst he builds his name on Showtime.
