Well populism is like a grassroots groundswell of support, and the "mystique" I was referring to is his edification as a legend in his own time and avoided by everybody before everybody even knew who he was.

Like I said, I don't think Clottey is head and shoulders above Margarito to the point where he couldn't conceivably lose to him; I do think he's better enough that he wins 3/5.

I honestly dont see where people get this from about Clottey having questionable stamina. Ive seen Clottey against Judah,Corrales,Margarito,Cruz,Gutierrez and ive not seen any evidence of it.

    He's in excellent shape.

I think the myth began with the latter two thirds of the Margarito fight, where IIRC the commentators (who did not yet know there was a definitive injury behind his sudden caution) surmised that Tony's workrate may have caused him to gas. That and he tends to be a pretty economical puncher anyway.

You're still insane. Clottey does not throw enough and he covers up way to much to be a great WW. Question, what elite fighter has Clottey ever beaten?

I still favor Cotto over Clottey, but it would be a good fight and certainly winnable.

Clottey faded against Gutierrez and lost the last 3 rounds. He also had noticeable lulls against Chico and Felix Flores. After 4 rounds against Margarito, he basically went into a shell and threw very little down the stretch. He appears to be a front runner to me.

I would too. The first fight was strange as hell. It seemed like Clottey was owning Margo, pedal to the metal, then he just suddenly shut down and went into a shell.

Hey Rudyard, Margo already fought and beat Clottey so their is your answer on what elite ww wants to fight him. As for the rest of the elite welters not fighting him blame Arum for that

    Sarcasm my friend.

I'd pick Clottey over Cotto in a heartbeat, but that fight will never happen.

Like I said, you have to blame Arum for not getting Clottey bigger fights. He is letting him watse away. I'm sure of Cotto would have beaten margo Cotto-Clottey would have happened. As to why Margo didnt rematch Cottey, its Arum's fault. I rather had watched that one then Shane-Margo.

I wont. Clottey dont throw enough. He blocks to much and seems intent on fighting in a slow pace most of the time. Cotto would not let up with his body attack which would force Clottey to cover for most of the fight.
