1) AJ fought Pulev a couple of months after Usyk had beaten Chisora. Usyk chose Chisora as a litmus test so I’m not sure where you’re getting that narrative from. Unless I was living under a rock. But still, you can’t say that he made more fuss than Fury did. 2) The perception of Usyk doesn’t matter. Not when Fury’s position was “why do I need to fight this middleweight nobody”. I’m not bothered about the perception and the related betting odds. I’m bothered about who ducked Usyk for longer. 3) Exactly. Fury won 4 rounds in both fights. AJ won about the same in both of his fights. Fury had a solid 3 round stretch in the 1st fight (which granted was the longest spell of success in any Usyk fight at HW to that point) but he also nearly got finished and relied on a paid off ref to get in Usyk’s way constantly to disrupt the finishing sequence. Let’s not forget, Usyk was 21 months older in the first Fury fight than he was in the second AJ fight as well, so Fury had no excuse to not look a bit better than AJ did. 4) Pulev beat Chisora the first time, and AFTER the AJ fight he had another fight with Chisora that he lost by a razor close SD in London that a lot of people thought he won. Povetkin was on PEDs and was 2 years closer to his prime than he was when he demolished a better version of Dillian Whyte than Fury beat in 2022. And yeah, Ruiz was overweight for the rematch, but he would’ve beaten Chisora that night. Chisora isn’t a world beater.

Doesn’t make any sense why would he duck Fury at this point? Who the hell else out there would he have a greater motivation to fight? The only argument you can make is that the belts are split and you can grab one of the easier ones and have another title reign. But then you have Dubois who took him out quite easily and the Hrgovic/Itauma winner, Kabayel and then Gassiev. They’re not exactly clear cut outcomes with this version of Joshua, are they any less formidable than fighting Fury? So fighting a long time target in Fury for a fortune and legacy seems a no brainer.
