People don't need to have heard of him. He's 21-0 and that's what they'll use. 21-0 v 13-0 Scotland v England Casuals should be convinced by it. But let be honest here. I think it shows boxing the way it really is today when a good prospect is fighting a guy who is undefeated in 21 fights and he gets grief for taking an easy fight.
It is an easy fight FFS :atschatsch After this fight he WILL STILL NOT have had a punch thrown at him
Cornish is a disgrace to Scotland and Heavyweight boxing he won't last more than 2 rounds against AJ guaranteed
Cornish would have been a fine opponent for the originally proposed July fight as that was meant to be an easy fight to set up the tougher fight in September, but then he decided he was going to cancel the july fight to focus on the tough september fight. Cornish is no tough fight and it's not acceptable after all the hype from his management team throwing names around like Wach and Price.
From the same area as Cornish so thought I would weigh in with my opinion. Think people are being too harsh on both fighters, Joshua has plenty time to fight the big guns and is fighting a guy who is 6 foot 7 which will give him a test against someone bigger than he is. My expectations are that Cornish will do better than expected due to his size and reach and durability and will make it to the 3rd or 4rth round before being knocked out. Although gary has fought terrible fighters he didn't have much of an amateur career so has been brought along slowly with the aim to make good money from a fight like this. Boxing fans on here seem agitated and impatient to see Joshua moved along quicker when the fact is most other heavyweights haven't been.
Del Chisora - agreed to fight Wlad for the World Title after 13 fights and Wlad pulled out to fight Haye.
Cornish won't last a round but there's only a few boxers on the planet who will last more than 2 rounds with AJ. He's the real deal.
yeh and chisora would of struggled big time, ppl can come up with individual cases of heavyweights who were brought along quicker or who accepted a big fight early on, but the vast majority where built up slowly like Joshua or wilder.
Surely even casuals can look at Boxrec and see most of Cornish's wins have come against ex bouncers and assorted no hopers with records of 20 wins 22 losses for example in late 2013.
now it has been confirmed has anybody had a change of heart on the outcome? i still reckon that joshua will end him inside 120 seconds!!
