Joshua vs Whyte

no he wasnt kicking anthony joshua but to say it was his first fight is misleading. have you been involved in a contact sport competatively? i have boxed and also did a bit of muay thai, the experience of being in a ring/cage whatever helps control nerves and helps you feel comfortable in the ring/cage. it was anthony joshuas 3rd fight not his 3rd after a decent career in k1 but only his 3rd. i dont know how many fights dillian had but it was 20 +, fighting in title fights etc so dillian was much more experienced than anthony joshua going into the fight and to try using the transition is silly, i know loads of kickboxers/muay thai/mma fighter that predominantly use there hands and o on to have good boxing careers. scottish examples of this; kris carslaw, ronnie clark and on the world stage; marco huck and vitali klitschko. its not as uncommon as you think to transition well mate

I think he is too raw for AJ, but in a couple of years he could be a real decent fight. He isn't scared of AJ which is a big thing. Every other fighter AJ has fought has been scared of him.

I boxed 18 amateur bouts and also did kickboxing.

It was Joshuas 5th fight and Whytes first.

5th fight not third!!:rofl

And yes for a novice two more fights makes a world of difference.

Whyte had only been boxing training for a few months.

Now he has years of experience toughening up and learnng against the best heavies in the world

 

Nah there's no denying that having a combat expierence will stand you in good stead when taking up another.

As someone mentioned, a 3(or 5) fight novice will still be very raw, both physically & mentally... Still very much getting used to being in a "fight" whereas someone who is used to competing (at any discipline) will be more accustomed to blows coming at you etc.

As for the actual ability level, if Whyte had "only been training" a few months, he would still be ahead of AJ in actual technique ( as he'd of boxed whilst doing the k1 etc)

So it is fair to say in that sense that maybe Whyte should of had the upper hand - however I would say the amateur match making is very particular so they'd be even matched.

 

I like how Joshua fans dismiss the stoppage ams loss to Whyte as inexperience when Whyte only started boxing at 19 himself, this will be competitive.

 

a.j will take his time in this one I suspect, wil wait for whyte to try and make an impression, and will catch him square within 4 rounds !!
