Whiter looking people are treated better in the USA than darker colored people. I don't know how it is in Mexico. But I bet you if Alvarez was black the white media here would call him a hype job like he it.

The author of the article is making it out as if Marquez is hating on Canelo because of his comments a few years ago when Canelo and Hatton were handed title shots in a division they had never fought in. Marquez' comments then were not directed at Canelo, but at Jose Sulaiman and the WBC for the crooked way they ranked fighters and gave them title opportunities. Canelo at that time took it personally and issued Marquez a challenge to fight. The bitterness from what I can see has come from Canelo for Marquez pointing out and exposing the WBC's corruptness. Dont know what Marquez said last night about Canelo's performance, but you have to remember that Marquez is paid to analyze fights these days. I'm sure he's not going to go out of his way to lick Canelo's ass when he see's things that Canelo as a champion could have taken advantage of. Would like to hear (and not read) Marquez himself before I can come to the conclusion whether his recent comments are fair or not, but as far as his past comments on Canelo and the WBC, he's been more than fair.
i think it has more to do w the fact that he has red hair and is not your typical "mexican" he is even unique among "white looking mexicans". they took his looks and ran w them marketing him accordingly. all that being said the kid still is tough, his brother looks like him and sucks, they can't market him because he sucks. canelo has skill to compete at the higher levels. angulo looks "more mexican" but you all seen him get his ass whipped. mikey garcia looks "more mexican" and he's a beast. in the long run the cream always rises to the top, doesn't matter the color of hair or tone of skin.

It has to do with corruption, here in Mexico we have alot of great boxer and very good prospects that don't get the fame and recognition they deserve and the backing from big promotions, but Canelo has a very big contract with televisa
