Marquez fought a couple of months ago... His wars have not been anythink like morales... all his fights he's ever been in have not aged him as much as someone like Morales taking on wars.

Marquez will not Age overnight he showed experience and still great skills and stamina in his previous fight months ago.

He is a defense fighter, he can last in the game much longer.... Thats why a 36 year old gave pac Hell in the second fight...where it was pretty much 50/50 the whole night expect a great fight with KATS

The only chances I give to Katsidis is if he tries to outbox JMM to make it close. If he really wants to beat JMM, he'd also have to up his defense. The reason I'll pick JMM for this one is he's alot closer to his optimum weight and most likely because of Katsidis past of going toe to toe he will lure Katsidis into a slugfest. I think Katsidis might be the physically stronger one and may score a flash knockdown, but no way in hell he's keeping JMM down. JMM will catch him on the way in and on the way out and bust the Katsidis face with crisp and perfectly timed combos. Katsidis will then resort to throwing bombs and be left wide open. The only thing that worried me is JMM seems to have lost abit of sting and speed on his punches and starts to show his age. JMM TKO9 Katsidis

I don't think marquez will age overnight. Katsidis is a live dog, but I'm surprised the odds are as close as they are currently (-250 marquez +222 katsidis)

It definitely will be a competitive fight because Marquez is hittable. However, Marquez still has a tremendous work ethic, intelligence, and skills. As well as enough athleticism to hang with younger guys like katsidis.

Katsidis has to knock out marquez in order to beat him. If Marquez shows up old, or if he didn't train for this fight like he usually trains, he just might be able to...However, I don't think Marquez is tnearly as diminished as some seem to think.

I am a big fan of both fighters and expect a great fight - but Katsidis is in for a world of hurt. JMM stops him late.

    That's why I'm picking JMM.

Marquez gets hit alot too and not many people around that weight hit as hard as Kats. By all means, Marquez is the better fighter and has almost everything over Kats H2H but the timing may just be right for the underdog for an upset this weekend.

    What is the best defence?
    A great offence.
I think you should consider bumping up that D+ that you gave Katsidis.
    Should be a great fight.

This is quite an unusual thread!

No DIVAC in a JMM Thread? That is sacrilegious, it's like a Gayweather thread without Nallege or Spud1.

Really surprised how close the poll is. Marquez is definitely the clear favorite.

Is it just in stye to pick the underdog in this fight cuz katsidis looked "good" in his last fight while marquez looked "bad" in his last 2 fights?

I can't see Marquez getting old overnight, and I don't think he's that much diminished from his 2008 form.

Katsidis's style (kill or be killed) does make him 'live' though I suppose no doubt about that. These guys are going to fight. Marquez isn't going to be able to outpoint him from long range. He'll have to take risks certainly. Should be a good one.

However, not to contradict everything I've said...

I do remember thinking during the first Juan Diaz fight that a stronger man may have been able to finish Marquez. Katsidis is certainly the stronger man and will be just as 'game' of a fighter as Juan Diaz was in the first fight. To me, the question is can Katsidis land consistently enough to reallly hurt marquez? Because Marquez won't fold too easily.

Marquez wins this. Too much skill and experience. Even with Marquez age, he's still a solid champion. Katsidis just throws too much irrelevant punches that sometimes doesn't seem to connect. Wasn't Katsidis KO'd by Casamayor? There you go. Old man Casamayor rocked katsidis HARD. I lost money ( $500 ) in that fight.

I would still give Katsidis a chance to win because so many things can happen in the ring and of course they are fighting.
