Agreed. I think the win over Casa was as good as say.......McGuigans win over Pedroza. Regardless, Marquez stopped Casa as no one had managed before. he then became the first man to stop Diaz, who had looked half-decent decisioning Katsidis a few months before. I think Marquez's lightweight tenure was pretty impressive, considering he only moved up in weight to chase Pacman rather than out of necessity.

Sure, nice wins by their standards. But when judging a fighter's merit in the face of the all time greats they are pretty much meaningless.
I'd say it's closer to Alfredo Layne vs. Wilfredo Gomez myself. I.e. Aging fighter clearly past his best who has managed to keep the title due to a dodgy decision in the recent past (Lockridge robbery) and being finally toppled by a guy giving an earnest if unspectacular effort. What makes Marquez's win 'good' is that he himself was aging and that he was moving up in weight for the fight. But in terms of a pure lightweight performance, it was not so good. So sure I agree that it was a 'good' effort by Marquez, but within the context of where he was at in his career, not per se.
