My assessment: Lontchi is a very difficult fighter and made Juanma look "bad". Or may be I should say 'not as good as he could". I was a little worry about their comment in "El Nuevo Dia"(puerto rican newspaper) about the training camp. It was shorter and not as intense because they had the conditioning from the April's fight against Penaloza. I am not sure if that has anything to do with the fact Juanma threw about 570 punches last night, while he threw more than 1000 against Penaloza. May be Lontchi speed also affected him. The fact he promised to finish the guy before the 10th added some pressure on Juanma's shoulders too. Thankfully, the result was the same. Another victory. I see they haven't been able to make Juanma stop playing with his pants. They need to work on that. And I will like to see more head movement. Even though I have never seen Juanma affected by the punches, there is no reason to take some of the punches he takes. They were not too many last night, but I still want the number to go lower. Hopefully "the company" can get Marquez or Caballero for September or October.
Gamboa: CONS: He is a lot easier to hit than Lontchi, and like to spend a lot of time sitting in the canvas. Very disorganized. PROS: Fast hands, Hits very hard. Good conditioning I haven't seen Juanma against a guy the size of Gamboa. But if Juanma touches him early, it will be a very short night. We have to see how Juanma takes punches at 126lbs. But honestly, its not too far from 122lbs and Ponce de Leon was a big puncher too. I think Juanma by KO in less than 7rds. I think Rocky could be even a tougher test than Gamboa. Because he is so ****ing durable, he is a warrior.
And people already talk about Gamboa cause he is that good. We just waiting for him to step up a bit more.
Yeah, JML definitely is headed in the right direction to P4P King. I think he still needs some bigger name fights and still work on his defense a bit. In his fight with Penalosa, he got caught a few good times with the counter right. With higher level opposition, that same counter punch could catch him out. But all in all, I think he's looking real good for mega fights shortly.
