Chávez finally retired in his 25th year as a professional boxer with a record of 107 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws, with 89 knockouts and a reputation as one of the best boxers of all time. He holds records for most successful consecutive defenses of world titles (27), most title fights (37), most title-fight victories (31) and he is tied with Joe Louis for most title defenses won by knockout (21). Chávez also has the longest undefeated streak in boxing history, 13 years. His record was 89-0-1 going into his first loss to Frankie Randall and had an 87 fight win streak until his draw with Whitaker

Didnt know Haugen, Rosario, and Taylor were Mexican cab drivers. They must of been some pretty good bums.

The point was, Chavez fought an incredibly high percentage of bums, maybe more than any other champion in the history of the sport, in order to pad his record.

And yes, he was also an excellent fighter. Aggressive & skilled, but with somewhat limited defense. Very much like Pac.

What many folks don't know about Chavez was that he (literally) had an unusually thick skull, which of course help him take a punch, thus he didn't exactly NEED a great defense. This is a fact, BTW. Some doctor or lab tech once actually leaked a Chavez x-ray to the press. I remember seeing it shown on TV.

Most likely, Jr. has the same thick skull. This doesn't diminish the fact that both men are tough, aggressive, strong, and offensively skilled warriors, (Sr more than Jr, at this point) but IMO it does sort of put another asterisk on JCC's record.

he gets underrated in terms of defense (although i admit the title of this video is an exaggeration :D)

and when manny steward started training him he was impressed by how much boxing ability he had, but chavez stated you dont get to see it much since he keeps getting matched up against the fastest fighters out there.

I've always sort of felt Ray Robinson's hand speed diminishes his record. :rofl

idk why people are saying he fought more bums than anybody. he fought plenty of champs and top contenders. a lot of undefeated fighters too. hes in the lead in some thread around here about fighters who beat undefeated fighters (with established records)

He lost in his 69th bout but Dickey Steele had other plans. Still incredible nonetheless.

Hey, I'll be sure to check with you next time I want to post an opinion!

BTW- I take it you're Mexican? That would explain the blinders on your eyes.
