Yeah, people act like his 87-0 record was why he was so highly regarded, and bring up how many soft touches he fought. The winning streak was PART of his greatness, and also a marketing tool, but it by no means defined him. He was a brilliant pressure fighter who could box at times too. He was an amazing combination puncher who threw very well-placed and educated shots. One shot creates an opening and the next punch exploits that opening. He kept low and rolled with/slipped shots effectively. He had a great chin and big cranium to absorb it when he was hit flush.

He won 31 world title fights and if you look at who were the notable fighters at the time in the divisions he fought in, he beat a lot of them.

Chavez was SLOW FOOTED, EASY TO HIT, TOOK 3 PUNCHES TO LAND 1. Great fighters move up in weight and are still effective, the fighters who are not true greats move up and weight and lose.

I give you all homework. I want you all to watch some Julio Chavez fights, just a few rounds not the whole fight but multiple fights, then watch Yory Boy Campas who's less known only because he didn't blow up his record AS MUCH as Chavez and started fighting live guys. Forget Chavez's record and just anaylze his skill set (which most of you can't do anyway because you have no boxing knowledge) and you'll realize that he was nothing special.

Chavez's best trait was his good chin at LOWER WEIGHTS, he couldn't be hurt, but besides that he's nothing special. Chavez's come around all the time, their name is Margarito, Jose Luis Castillo and a whole list of others.

Chavez-Rosario should be compulsory viewing for anyone who questions Chavez' greatness.

Come on Einstein tell us who he " ducked "?

If you knew **** about boxing you'd know that Chavez was having to fight as often as he could just to survive, such was the way he was being ripped off by that Yank scum King.

Do you think he was gonna fight Sweetpea, and Meldrick Taylor every 6 weeks? Of course there were bums, due to the biggest bum on the planet tying him to a contract that was as bad as any slavery King's ancestors ever suffered.

Chavez owe's everything to King. Chavez didn't really duck anybody, he just fought in a WEAK ERA @ 147 after Leonard/Hearns and those guys moved up. He fought a live fighter in De La Hoya and if it wasn't for the cut stoppage would have took one of the worst beatings in history.

Everytime Chavez fought a real fighter, he either lost or almost lost. The best fighter he clearly beat was Hector feather fist Camacho. Tell me something, what's the difference between Chavez and Yory Boy Campas skill wise? Chavez is a myth just like Quetzalcoatl and Jesus. Chavez's come around all the time

    1. When Chavez first fought at 147, he was like 33 or something like that.
    2. He rematched DLH when he was 36 or 37 and went 9 toe to toe rounds with a prime or close to prime DLH.
