From the way Arum is talking this seems to be his favoured matchup for later in the year.

Now talentwise Cotto pisses all over Jr but this is going to be at MW. Cotto looks small at LMW and doesn't have the same powe so just imagine him moving up again. Chavez came into the ring weighing 180 last night!!! And Julio's a strong ****er, he's not the skinny kid that was down at 147 early in his career.

Cotto is 5ft7 with a 67" reach, Julio 6ft with a 73" reach :nut. However, Julio is still not great boxing from the outside. Even last night his success came when he imposed himself on Zbik and started landing bodyshots up close. Zbik had a lot of success fighting from range and using his handspeed but I just worry that Cotto would look very sluggish at 160.

Physically this is a tough matchup for Cotto and Chavez is a decent fighter... Roach was saying recently that Cotto is on the slide and that's why he wants this for Chavez :-(

So, what does everyone think of this fight? Should it happen? And who would you favour?

Chavez, and I don't particulary rate him either.

Wasn't it him that got Khan the Barrera fight and was pushing for him to fight Morales next?

Cotto probably won't have as much pop at middle as even Zbik did, and Chavez, whilst not as brutally efficient pressure fighter as Margarito, should provide enough workrate to tire Cotto out down the stretch, making it close enough a decision can be justified his way ;-)

I think he was. I highly doubt ****** wanted the Barrera fight until Roach reassured him that is was a good fight to take.

Really and truly he's discrediting his work but saying guys a shot etc. I used to like Roach but now i have no time for him. Guy talks bit to much for my liking and i'm glad his predictions aren't accurate any more. Remember when people called him Dr.Roach :barf
