Naw, his redeeming quality is his ability to take a shot and withstand punishment. But with that said, he received a big gift against Vera. In my opinion Vera was outworking Chavez Jr. in most rounds, doing enough to win.
yeah, hes tuff enuf too, agreed. Andy Lee pasted him a couple of times and he walked right thru it. Vera definitely won.
his power is overrated but he's not paulie or anything. JCC Jr. is a poor man's Margarito (who's power w/o illegal help is overrated as well).
JCC Jr has more like "beat you up" type power. He doesn't really have one hitter quitter type unless the opponent in question just doesn't take a good shot. Vera is noted for his capacity to take punishment(especially head shots) so the only way Chavez Jr was going to get him out of there was if he put punches together which he didn't do. He would land a right hand bomb but never have a left hook with it, etc. It was poor professionalism beforehand, poor gameplanning, and fortunately for Chavez Jr despite all that, poor judging.
the same sergio who is almost 40 and is a junior middleweight fighting at middle epic feat by jr to knock the guy down
