You can’t expect Frank or any promoter to pay a journeyman Dave Allen 100k. If he paid him that can you imagine how much the premium will go up for Frank when he’s trying to get other opponents to face him afterwards. It would have been an ideal fight, and Allen has been giving it large that he would KO Dubois for months but he’s got to play the game and accept a reasonable purse. By all means push it, but dont price yourself out. Even Hearn was probably telling him To accept franks offer. In contrast a far better fighter in Chisora was offered £80k for Joyce and that’s a PPV card with a bigger budget available.
Does the same not apply to Frank? You want to tell the world that Dubois KO’d AJ, he’s the biggest puncher in the world, he’s the next biggest thing etc. People aren’t going to want to get in with him and face a career ending defeat for peanuts. Especially for the likes of Allen who already appears punch drunk.
Yeah, I get what your saying Guv but that’s just standard promoter hype talk. Allen and/ or his team will be aware of what Dubois really brings to the table- if he’s really a killer then fair play, get the most you can if you want the fight. It would appear that Dave just doesn’t Fancy it - nobody is going to pay him 100k - I doubt he even got half that for Lenroy Thomas let alone the Ortiz beating when even he said he took that fight for peanuts. If frank has 100k to pay an opponent for Dubois at this point, he should give David Price a call seeing as he’s sticking around for more brutal beatings. It would generate more morbid casual interest, and would be far better value for money.
