Don't you dare quote me as if you've got one over on me you low life. Just because you're a Khan fan who started watching boxing yesterday doesn't put you in a position to condescend anyone, especially not me. Please don't even acknowledge my posts until you've learnt a bit about the game.
Sky. The TV channel who were, at one point, trying to build up fatty McDermott as something special. I wouldn't pay their myopic opinion too much credence.
Still gutted. Personally i hope Witter comes back if he can change his style and leave those leaping hooks and uppercuts or even tone them down a bit, and get on the jab which i thought when he dedicated himself to it won him the 2 rounds he did it in. People might think im a bit deluded but i think he can make a decent comeback just he needs to realise his reflexs are not what they used to be either is the speed or timing of his punches but they are all still a decent speed.
^ Very few can keep performing once their skills deteriorate. Hopkins is a student of the game who, despite not being to everyone's taste stylistically, is a rare breed who has the discipline to adapt his style and keep performing at the highest level.
He was really, really **** Seemed very slack, badly prepared, got beaten by a guy who just did the basics and won with workrate Junior threw loads of embarassing punches, and not unusually ended up on the floor after one wild miss He was also very close to tasting the canvas properly, got caught with a few huge shots And then quit in his corner mysteriously - I heard the result first so I looked out for an injury Saw no sign of it myself and the way he behaved afterwards suggests he simply quit... he said he felt bad in there, so he's as good as admitted that it wasn't really the injury that did it Felt really sorry for him afterwards, he was gutted but Alexander didn't look anything special and to quit with four rounds to go... when you can punch hard... inexcusable really
I know what you mean, I doubt he would be able to adapt his style as well as B-Hop has done many times. I just think he could use his jab a lot more and look to set up is shots. I know its very easy to type it out than to put it into effect but witter has a good jab and if he toned the leaping shots so they would surprise his opponent rather than them waiting for him to do it he could still fight at a good level. To Dan-b by the way
They call him Junior Witter switch hitter. What he should be called is "Junior Witter! Switch the ****ing channel!" On a serious note though it's easy to call someone a quitter, kick him when he's down. Those of us who don't fight have no right to call someone a *****, quitter, ***** etc. These guys risk their lives everytime they get in the ring. However, After everything Witter said about Hatton, including questioning his heart, of course Hatton fans will gloat. While it would be nice, not everyone is as classy as a Miguel Cotto, Witter certainly isn't. It's his choice to have the personality he has and his choice to make the boasts he does, so no one but his most diehard of fans (all five of them) will have too much sympathy for him. Personally I'm not a fan of him, but I do feel a little sympathy for any boxer that loses a fight. Losing on fight night round 3 is bad enough for me so I can't imagine how it must feel to lose something you've worked hard for for so long. months of training and in just one night your world could come crashing down. Like I said though, I can understand why people will gloat. It might not be right but Witter didn't do himself any favours.
Pissed are we, sorry Mr. Know it all, learn this, an age of British boxers are falling, it's time for new blood to take over, get with the times, Witter, Hatton have had their time and i respect them but it all comes to an end. Right now only 2 British fighters on the World stage Carl 31, and Haye 29 and one real close Khan 22, get used to Khan because he is all we got for the near future.
Khan is looking good so far. Haye is a huge disappointment. He will get knocked out by Valoeuv and quit before he even got into the ring against Klitschkos.
"Pissed"?, "get used to it"?, what are you talking about child? Unlike you I don't have an agenga against fighters and am quite happy for Khan to take up the mantle on the world stage. Unlike you, however, I'm able to put his most recent win into perspective. Show some respect to the bread and butter of British boxing. Without them, your boy wouldn't have the platform from which to earn his crust on PPV.
Believe me I have all the respect for British boxing and the hard work most fighters put in, and yet dont get the credit they deserve. I know Khan has had it easier than most fighters in terms of media attention and good marketing, but I guess it was just his luck in the end. I was just a little pissed off with Witter always running his mouth first Hatton, and recently Khan. First he said Kotelnik will KO Khan in 7 rounds, then after Khan beat him better than he did he comes out with Kotelnik was just a average fighter. Then he comes with I will knock Khan out in 3 rounds. He does not look that clever now does he. At 35 I think its time for Witter to call it a day, in a way I feel sorry for him he was a good fighter and never really got the credit or respect for his work, but maybe using his mouth like that over the years was not the best way to make up for that.
Closed mouths don't get fed. If it hadn't been for Hatton running his mouth he may not have got the Mayweather fight. It's just a shame Hatton didn't afford Witter the same opportunity he was (despite, apparently, having it written to his contract) but let's not go there again. Khan does deserve some of the hype, he went to the Olympics at 17 and won silver, which was brilliant. I would argue that's his greatest achievement in his career thus far. I do think the way he's been hyped has been a little overt and not many fighters would have got a world title shot less than a year after being demolished in under a minute. Again, full props to Khan for his win over Kotelnik. I just hope he can push on from here and continue taking meaningful fights.
Yep I think he has to keep fighting meaningful fights, because of PPV pressure and winning a world title he will have to defend it vs good fighters. I hope he does not vacate it that would suck.
Clearly he was not the greatest and he was a fighter and it takes a man to get in the ring like we all know especially those of us who have stepped in. However his comment beforehand and for years slagging of Hatton and Khan makes him look very bad for what happened on Saturday. There is no getting away from it. I thought he would lose but by decision but have to take off my hat to Devon the Great Alexander. He was better than I thought. Well schooled St Louis fighter. Hat to his trainer Cunningham another St Louis champion.
