Jus a bad night? or was Khan's level exposed tonight?

Except Ali wasn't lucky, because he was ****ing winning rounds. Is such a misconception amongst people like you who clearly haven't seen the fight that Ali just layed on the ropes and managed to KO Foreman with the first flurry he threw. That is possibly the single worst attempt at a comparison I've ever seen on ESB, and I've seen some bad ones. Funny how McCloskey was going to knock him out within the next few rounds, despite the fact Khan was beginning to land more punches as the fight went on.

 

Khan was beginning to hurt him, some of these posters must have never watched McCloskey fight before, he isn't that good, he's a domestic/Euro-level fighter.

 

fight was going exactly like I expected, mccloskey was following the gameplan(for the most part, stood off him too often though) and I was waiting on him catching up to khan in the late rounds, he hurt him with a right hook and uppercut already.

nobody wins the early rounds against khan, thats not how you fight him.

 

i was at the fight and khan looked like ****. seriously making glaring mistakes, i was shocked how bad he looked and the stoppage was total bollocks ...saying that though as an irish fan i was really dissapointed in mccloskeys performance. he needed to use his jab and actually take the fight to khan. hes saying it was a gameplan but if thats true it was a pretty **** one. he made khan miss pretty badly on occasion but didnt come back with much and when he started throwing the uppercut it was so easy to read. gota say a pretty dissapointing night all round

 

I thought he wouldn't last 4, but I was under the impression he would come to fight in the biggest fight of his career, but he employed a very negative gameplan. An over the hill Lauri who Witter destroyed in two rounds when Lauri was in his prime, almost beat McCloskey couple of fights ago.

 

no he didnt, he was nowhere close to winning that fight, he came to spoil and thats it and colin lynes who gave witter a close fight, got outclassed by mccloskey...

I could also say hatton and witter couldnt KO lauri, and mccloskey knocked him out cold, so he must hit harder than hatton eh?

dont start pulling out the old comparisons because mccloskey did exactly what I said he would before the fight and didnt get run over by "super khan the unstoppable", and the Breen gameplan was to begin in the second half of the fight, which we never got to see.

 

it was only 6 ****in rounds, half the fight, how the **** can you say "khan would just school him the rest of the fight...fact"

same people who said "khan will stop him in 1...fact"

 

Really, from what I saw Khan was getting stronger and hurting McCloskey before the headclash, but we'll never know since the ref stopped it.

 

@ this thread, all of a sudden Khan fights someone with good head movement, reactions, good footwork that can make him miss and he looked the worst in ages and he looked slow Ummm yea because he fought the trickest fighter he faced in his career, but he won while looking bad and managed to get off on McCloskly none the less, McClosky got off a few good shots and stunned Khan a few times but really he need to slip and counter, not just slip make Khan miss and give up ground so Khan could have another shot at him, he needed to either counter or use his jab/hook to get off first. I think most fighters would find it hard to look good against McClosky but this does highlight 1 weakness of Khan's and that is he telegraphs his punches

 

Last night may have finally convinced me that Ariza shakes do in fact have some special substances in them:hey:yep

 

A lot of change and hassle from Khan over the last few months and in partciular the last week or two, probably affected his performance.
McCloskey isn't up to much but he is awkward and a southpaw as well which makes him even more awkward.
I don't really like Khan and I can't stand his team but I still think he will beat Bradley and will establish him as a top fighter- albeit a rung below the true elite.

 

But seriously, a lot of people thinking he was gassing, struggling to make the weight etc. Could his new trainer have anything to do with that?
