I agree with the thread poster and have some points to make. I can definitely enjoy lower level fights if there is at least some skill shown and maybe a lot of excitement about the outcome. For example, Botha vs. Etienne was pretty enjoyable to watch. They had decent skills, really tried to beat the crap out of each other and had a close fight, each knocking the other down. What I can not enjoy in any way are skillless and pathetic fighters. There is nothing worse than watching a hugfest between two slobs who don´t have the stamina to keep punching for 10 rounds. This would describe a lot of the lower level heavyweight fights you´d see actually. John Ruiz would also fall in this catagory, because he used annoying tactics to make up for his lack of boxing/punching skills. Higher level fights that are not action packed, like say Lewis vs. Holyfield, Lewis vs. Tua or Wlad vs. Ibragimov, can still be exciting, in the way you know there is a lot at stake, the boxers are being skillfully cautious (not lazy) and beacause one punch could end it at any moment, you apreciate their caution more. I´d have a lot less patience watching a similarly slow paced fight between, say Ray Austin and Owen Beck.
I think that the contender season 2 is a pretty good example of what we are talking about. I absolutely loved watching Grady Brewer work is way through and go home with all the marbles. And watching K9 beat the **** out of that loud mouth Walter Wright was priceless!
you dont even have to be in a ring to understand that the difference between winning and losing is inches and percentages. it's all a game of luck and some are more luckier than others.
I LOVE IT !!! BUMB vs BUMB swinging wild with suspect defence is the best kind of fight. Toe to toe with their chins in the air SOMEONE IS GOING DOWN!!!:happy Most of the time I just like to see people get punched on the nose I can watch all types ,and respect all types. But sometimes , the novices are entertaining on many levels partly because of the mistakes they make.
has anyone seen a guy called carson jones. that guy can pull moves that only jones could yet he will never win a world title or get to the top tier. there are tons of manny augustus fans here aswell.
