Just got back from Atlantic City (Williams-Martinez)

Look, PW is a great fighter, and I wish him all the luck. I have no question that he would be a nightmare at 147 for anyone, would fare well against the top 154s, and give the best 160 fists. I also, just like you, wish to see him, and many other quality fighters, fight quality opponents and produce the thrills from the last Saturday. But can we agree that the guy should NOT be in P4P list? Not based on achievement, not based on potential... and can we please stop the nonsense about most avoided and feared fighter - dzindziruk, arguably the top 154er would have fought him in a heartbeat (but he is completely unknown and underrated, and thus a more feared and avoided than the self-proclaimed most feared and avoided fighter).

As you can see, I agree with you on most accounts, except perhaps on the 'american bias'. Do you really think PW would be now where he is now (given the same accomplishment) in the ranking if he was fighting out of Germany, Spain, or even UK? Do you really think he would be headlining HBO show, even when the big fight with Pavlik fell?1 Come on, let's be serious... being American doesn't hurt in this business!

 

Martinez was extremely underrated.

I don't give a **** about P4P Rankings, as they are clearly biased. And I don't give a **** what Goosen has labeled him. He is my favorite fighter, for a lot of reasons. I don't care if you don't root for him, but it sounds ****ing senseless to sit here and try to diminish what he has done and tried to do in the ring, for the simple sake of going on an anti-American rant.



If you are so too blindly un-American to realize that two of the best guys at 147-160 squared off in a thriller last Saturday, and people got their ****in money's worth, then too bad for you...


Maybe if more of those 147 fighters would fight people according to ability rather than only based on how many PPV's you can draw, then people like Williams, Martinez, Dzinzurik, and others would get their just due...

marquez has had a unlucky year first the cintron mess then he loses a close fight hopefully he can have a good year next year he deserves to have a good career but it might be too late he is 34
