very interesting - DeGale begging Groves not to fight "technically" and to stand and trade - did he know George had the beating of him tactically?

Groves standing up and offering to bet his purse that he'd win! Have to say, I dont remember catching onto that first time round

Groves getting fed up with Nelson sucking DeGales **** "do you want to come and sit next to him Johnny" :rofl and more importantly "People like you are not helping him Johnny because you're inflating him too much"

Its also clear that DeGale was too emotionally attached to this fight, and Groves was mentally superior

Groves did not have the beating of him 'tactically' though. He was hurt several times and was getting busted up. Its not like he put on a boxing clinic here he was out on his feet in the 11th.

Nelson was butt ****ed tonight, then stating the rematch had to happen straight away.

Can't wait until Groves is back on Ringside sneering at the *****.

as for DeGale I just covered your point in another post, DeGale wanted a war because he knew that was his best chance at beating Groves.

he was a long way off "being out on his feet" and its pretty obvious that Groves tactically out manouevered DeGale

    Are you Johnny Nelson?

    disagree entirely.

Groves was tactically excellent in those opeing 4 rounds, of course it was going to be hard to keep doing that for 12 rounds, he was hurt a couple of times, legs bucked twice but showed the heart (again) to come again and still punch, yes DeGale started coming on strong in the later half but Groves wasn't out on his feet.

Was more troubled by the headbutts than anything Degale did and it was clear Degale+his team hadnt planned on Groves' vastly improved footwork and at times in the 1st half of the fight in particular Degale seem confused and frustrated. So yes tactically they did get it right, sure James nearly evened it up on coming forward and a few good flashes but no it was a tactical win foor Team Groves.

As for the interview, hindsight on the 'Mr Technical' bit but spot on the over-inflated Degale's ego, spent too much emphasis on what he's good at and not on the opponents strengths and covering all bases. No disaster for Degale

Opening 4 rounds both did nothing, but feint. DeGale started too late according to the judges who must have given George the first 4 because DeGale took over from round 6 onwards. He was saved by the bell end of the 9th (iirc) and end of the 11th he could barely walk dripping with blood and legs were stiff as wood.

Bollocks, the only time you could say that Groves looked slightly in trouble was when Degale headbutted him as they both came in at the same time, which seen George stumble out and away from the exchance.

Other than that, George moved around the ring well, threw more, landed more and was on the end of a well deserved decision.

I am just saying this was never a shutout break away easy victory for Groves. He was very lucky to get a decision. Crowd factor definitely won him a few swing round. He got hurt worse, cut worse, was tireder. People making out like he boxed DeGales head off. Its insane. He was getting his ass kicked from round 5 onwards.

am not even going to bother with you after the start to that post.

Groves won 3 of the first 4 rounds imo, whether he ran or stood and traded who gives a ****? he won the rounds!

DeGale couldn't work him out until later in the fight and Groves started to slow down.
