Peterson was ducking low and coming up fast with his head into Khans mouth throughout the fight. The ref was only looking for Khans fouls which were mainly caused because the ref was not protecting him...clearly biased against Khan. Peterson still fought a great fight and pleased he got his world title.
Fine that he said stop fighting, Peterson carried on throwing, khan gestured to the ref and pushed him away, and then the ref took a point for pushing? Sorry, but the ref didn't seem to know what he was doing. Genuinely seemed to have lost the plot for a moment.
It's all ready started, by the end of the week it will be 'Khan was robbed, blatant robbery... etc' spurred on by the guff pumped out by the promoters designed to put a smoke screen over their cash cows loss. I don't mind Khan, in fact I quite like him, but he lost that fight fair and square.
Have I? If an American fighter had of got deducted 2 points by a Brit ref for those "offences" then there would have been murder!
See, you make my point exactly, you are viewing it through 'them and us' eyes, not from a distance, not from an objective point of view. The fact is, Khan very much deserved those points to be deducted, it was fair, even the SKY team behind him stated that. I don't think the ref was particularly picking on Khan, he committed the same offence a ridiculous amount of times even after being warned.
No I'm not. I'm just pointing out the lack of objectivity amongst people who think the ref merely enforced the rules. He did not ref that fight at all well and thats not "us", "them" or whatever...just iffy reffing.
If the ref can deducted 2 points from Khan for pushing which is no big deal, so why no points from Peterson keep coming in with his head first and the ref did warn Peterson many times but did not even take a single point from him.
Speaking in general about the post fight comments. I'll tell you what's happened here, the biggest money men in the sport have post fight thrown out a gambit that if you ever do not favour our fighters you'll never work again or your city will never get a fight again. Don't fall for it. Don't back it. There was nothing exceptionally dodgy about that decision nor the refereeing. The kid from the streets Peterson won that fight fair and square.
Well we shall have to disagree to agree. I thought the ref judged it fairly and if anything should have warned Khan much earlier. As I said, so did the Sky team etc who in effect are behind him. There isn't a fight that has ever taken place where a ref can't be questioned on a thing or two. Anyway, each to their own opinions folks, it's always good to hear them. :good
