These arguments are pointless. The only real fact is that thru advances in method and science, athletes are faster and stronger today than in the past. Records in measurable sports support this.

This. To say a fighter nowadays wouldnt have a hope against an old time fighter like robinson is ridiculous. People get stuck in nostalgia too much.

You have not seen him at WW...nobody did.

You saw his fights at 160 which was not his prime. His speed and movement understandly are not as good as that at 147. He went like 44 - 0 / 109 -1 in that division.

than you might not be an boxing expert if you dont the perfection in sugar ray.

    like an boxing ones said:

" he was as fast as a mosley, had the skills of roy jones and had the punching power of trinidad."

that sums it up prety much.

This is coming from someone who thinks Mayweather is underrated and Robinson is overrated.
I would pick Robinson to win at 147. Mayweather can cause Robinson a lot of probblems espicially if they were to fight in the center of the ring. However I think this fight takes place mostly on the ropes where Robinson is the better of the two.
Mayweather's biggest weekness is that he seemes to like fighting off the ropes even though he is at his best in the center of the ring. Which means that Robinson is going to have little trubble getting Mayweather to the ropes.
I think that Mayweather will have his molments and it would be closer than a lot of people think.
I think that in a 15 round fight Robinson wins 9-6.

The footage of srr at WW is really crappy.

Wish there was quality footage of him there.

LOL @ Ray not having blazing combos. He's up there as one of the best combo punchers ever. He'd go to the body and then finish with a double left hook, body then head, with both speed and proper leverage. He threw quick combos from strange angles but still managed to get leverage and power behind them.

The KO of Olson to regain the MW title was a crazy combo

Not saying he would lose but past-fighters are ridiculously overrated. Everything that's in the past is ridiculously overrated by nostalgia, people that can't let go, and younger people who want to act elite and superior so they throw around names from the past and how they were superior.

If somebody watches a clip of a fighter and he sincerely sees a bunch of flaws and maybe he doesn't see something as special as there is in a new fighter, he can't post that or he will be attacked like you are/will be now. He has to go against what he sees and feels if he wanted to be in agreement with the bandwagon jumping, sheep, elite wanna-bes here. It happens in every subject, not just boxing.

I agree with you on one thing: Robinson is not the n1 all time p4p fighter. I think it was Marvin Hagler.

Floyd would get knocked out by Robinson, though. Pacman stylewise would stand a good chance of beating him, but I would still lean toward Robinson.

The one stylistic match-up that would be a nightmare for Robinson would be a prime Hagler - the one with the hat that said "WAR" on it, the guy who steamrolled through Thomas Hearns.

Would it be okay for someone to watch Floyd Mayweather's fights with Oscar De La Hoya, Carlos Baldomir, and Jose Luis Castillo, and determine that he was no better than a prime Meldrick Taylor? You can't expect to watch 2 hours of one fighter on Youtube and have enough knowledge to make a statement like "Floyd would kill him". That doesn't happen. Robinson was at his peak as a Welterweight, and he fought so often that he wasn't always at his brilliant best.
