It's enough to make you wanna pick up a rifle, go outside and make your own contribution towards destroying civilization and restarting the human race altogether. Even by the standards of the General Forum, I'm still amazed by some of the stuff I read on here.

No, that is wrong. Archie Moore used this defense to maintain a career into his 50's and unlike floyd he could actually punch strongly from it amassing boxing's career knock out record. Armstrong used a variation to pressure his way inside and neutralize a guy up close while landing anything he wanted letting him hold three weight classes at the same time and he was ROBBED of a fourth.. Burley used this style to whup guys with up to 70+ lbs on him.

Hops, Toney, and PBF didn't perfect or invent thisstyle, even the guy you claim invented it in FM Sr. and Roger acknowledge that this style is not original. Floyd's version is not superior, he has abandoned it before in favor of other approaches when he couldn't come up with an answer to certain fighters like against Mosley and Judah. The other guys never had to.

Would you be more happy if I substituted the words 'far, far, far' with 'alot'? Would that stop you crying about it?

What do you not understand? Mayweather's defensive style was not developed by him and his dad. It is NOT unique. There have been countless fighters in history who used it preceeding, him Moore being one of them 60-odd years ago.

It wasn't "developed" by his father. It was taught to him by his father from the boxing experience that he'd picked up over the years. It's not as if Floyd Jr. added some new dimension to or perfected the technique, he was simply a much more talented fighter than his father and thus much more capable of employing it.

If someone did try to make a play at the shoulder roll defense as some kind of a faulty one, I wouldn't necessarily agree with them. It all depends on who's using it.

I don't think people can't 'respectfully disagree'. What I would appreciate is some actual debate on the subject rather than constant bemoaning over the choice of the words. So far you have failed to add any analytical discussion whatsoever.

MayweatherS defense, ala shoulder rolling, what is it that you do not comprehend?! I said SRL destroyed MayweatherS defense, as in destroying Floyd Sr, and likely would have utterly destroyed Jr aswell, because they're somewhat reminiscent of eachother, read.. SOMEWHAT.

The shoulder roll is not an invention of the Mayweather family as posters have previously mentioned.

My point is his father didnt even use it
and it was made as if the mayweather defense is **** because srl bombed on the mayweather defensce. again there were no mayweather defensce until Mayweather Jr. period.

He had a far more complete offensive arsenal and would have destroyed Mosley head to head.

Yes, quite simply. Principily Sr's defence contained all the same elements. Right hand up picking off lead jabs, his chin tucked behind a raised left-shoulder, left hand down by his body. Jr was just a better fighter able to carry it off more, that's all.

how can you say that Srl would destroy Mayweather Jrs defense if Mayweather Sr fought a completely diffrent defensce? Thats not the Mayweather diffensce. What you see Jr do today is the Mayweather defense

Absolutely, it is very reminiscent of his pops, but like everyone agrees on, he's a vastly more talented athlete.
