That sounds like a poster I know who used to spend all his time trying to pick Calzaghe's resume apart.

You don't have to spend alot of time to see the Glaring and Obvious HOLES in Calzaghe's Resume.

And besides this is a WASTED ATTEMPT on your behalf. A pretty nice panel of Boxing Gurus (Former Great Fighters, Trainers and Writers) during a recent Discussion this weekend in Miami for the SuperBowl were talking about Some of the Best Fighters over that Past Decade.

And the Host mentioned Joe Calzaghe....They All said in UNISON: "NEXT QUESTION". Calzaghe, in the eyes of many...IS A F***ING JOKE!!!!:rofl

I am one of Calzaghe's biggest Critics...BUT EVEN I HAVE MOVED ON!!!!:-(

i seen that fight when it 1st happen, i remember thinking the fight could go either way but castillo being champ and mayweather needed to do more to take the title.but then announced mayweather the winner and i thought damn he got lucky.hurt or not injuried or not i think it was a good fight.

i wish those same tactics would work on mayweather now, to bad they dont the remtach castillo fought the same way but even better and so did mayweather.there needs to be a blue print 2 on how to beat floyd, castillo was not the man to do it that day.

Judges get it right when the consensus of knowlegable fans agree with the descision. Most fans felt that Castillo won this fight. Floyd won the first four rounds but was then outfought for the rest of the fight, I usually see it as a close but clear 114 - 112 Castillo.

Can you post your scorecard so I can see how you managed to find Mayweather 8 rounds :-(

I cant see how you gave Castillo 4 and 5. Floyd outlanded him in those rounds..." After outlanding Castillo 48-27 in first 4 rounds (swept rounds on all cards), " Maybe you could give him 5 b/c thats when he started to get in a groove..

This is a boxing forum. It's made for this type of these discussions. Plenty of close fights are discussed. There have been many Calzaghe vs Hops and Pac vs Marquez threads, etc ,etc. Like I said it's a forum. I bet you love the threads about Hopkins getting robbed against Calzaghe.

First of all you can't score a fight on landed punches only, and anyways Floyd outlanded Castillo in round 5? not so sure about that. Sounds like revisionist history.

    YEP... thought so

    http://www.compuboxonline.com/notes/mayweather_notes.shtml

4/20/02 FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR W 12 JOSE LUIS CASTILLO (controversial decision, as 5-1 favorite Mayweather outlanded 203-158 by Castillo, who threw 506 total punches to 449 for Floyd (37 per round). Castillo landed 173 of 377 (46%) power shots to just 67 of 152 (44%) for Floyd.

I gave Floyd the first 4 and then 1 more round after that.

Just rewatched this bout with the sound off and ignoring the scoring from Lederman. I had Mayweather winning 7-5. I had him winning the first 4 rounds, 5th round was even but gave it to Castillo. Between rounds 6 and 11, I gave them a share of 3 rounds each, and the 12 round was clearly Castillo's.
There were a couple of close rounds in there, but on more than one ocassion I seen Mayweather out-jabbing and out-scoring Castillo for the majority of the round, then Castillo coming on strong for the final 30 seconds, and the commentators/Lederman giving Castillo the round.
When Mayweather was deducted a point, he had his best round in my opinion. Landing cleanly with the left hook and straight right for most of the round. Yet Lederman gave Castillo a 10-8 round, this was clearly a 9-9 round after the deduction. Even when Castillo was deducted a point you could argue it was Mayweather's round and he could claim a 10-8 round after deduction.
I watched this from a neutral stance, although I don't hide the fact im a Mayweather fan. I advise everyone to watch this bout without the biased commentators influencing your perception of the bout.
Also, the compubox figures at the end I felt were very inaccurate! Yes Castillo landed more shots on Mayweather than anyone before and probably since, but you can argue how many of those punches were clean punches to the body or the head. I don't count punches to the arms, low blows, or shots to the body whilst the referee is telling both boxers to break as clean punches. You can't rely on compubox figures to try to win an argument!

You ignored the point deductions and since I don't know how you managed to give Castillo 4, If we switch that. it becomes 113-113.
