So are you saying a rematch is pointless and that you won't watch it?

Margarito isn't the better boxer by any means. He is the one with the better chin. Nothing more.

Margarito has been beaten before, and Clottey was beating the ever living **** out of him until he hurt his hand.

Bull****, Cotto hits VERY hard, it's just that Margarito's ability to take a punch is A+ that makes you think he doesn't hit hard enough. Some of the punches he landed on Margarito that night you could ****ing feel them sitting behind the TV watching and Margarito didn't even blink.

Cotto can outbox Margs, but he will have to train very hard and concentrate on less offense, and more defense. He used too much offense, and forgot about defense. A.M's uppercut worked to perfection. If he can nulify that punch, he has a chance. Margs is bigger so he has to roll with Margs shots and do a lot less moving. He has the faster hands so he doesn't have to hurt A.M.

I picked A.M to stop Cotto in 10. Cotto as powerful as you might think he is, did not ko the elite old and prime. Shane took his shots, and A.M did also. He was backing up against A.M so the force of his shots was not very effective, it just looked that way. A.M was smiling at Cotto at times. Cotto has the ability to win the rematch, but I don't think he will win...

Those were my thoughts exactly. After the 2nd round, I was certain Cotto was going to get knocked out.

I watched this fight again also, and I agree:good . In the 2nd round Cotto really started getting banged up. Going into the 8th round Cotto was fighting on heart alone! His body was so banged up going into the 8th it's amazing he made it to the 11th.
Cotto is not a quitter, a quitter would of stayed on his stool in the 8th round.
I don't see Cotto being able to make Margo back up. Antonio can take Cottos best. Miguels best bet is to bring some stamina and outboxing the beast. If Cotto can avoid getting that nose busted up he might survive to a decision.

I really don't see much that Cotto can do to change his fortune if they fight again. Yeah, Miguel is the better technical Boxer. But Tony's will and heart is hard to pass by. I honestly can't see Cotto beating Margarito.

I really hope the Margo/Clottey II fight comes off.. I would love to see Clottey take it to him again.. To be honest, I can see Clottey claiming the #1 spot at 147.. Dunno' why really..

The body shots were effective by A.M, but I thought that the left uppercut was the main weapon that busted Cotto up. Cotto covered up his body well early and mid rounds. The second round showed A.M land like 3 uppercuts in a row. After Cotto's nose started to bleed, I figured it would be a matter of time. Remember, A.M hit Cotto low multiple times in the fight...2 which were caught by the ref. The body shots and shots on the arms affected Cotto later in the fight.

That's because Shane can take a punch very well, he has proven it in the past with top opponents already. Just like Margarito proved it fighting Williams and Cotto.

That's like saying Tyson didn't KO Mitch Green, James Smith and Tony Tucker so he doesn't have KO power. Credit should be given to opponents that can take already proven power punches.

Everyone on this board know I'm one of the biggest Cotto fans but when Cotto fights Margarito in June he would have to have the perfect fight in order to beat Margarito who holds obvious physical attributes over Cotto and his ability to take punishment like nothing and deliver it very good also. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Margo would win again in a rematch, unless Cotto fights the perfect fight which is not a probable scenario.

So....Cotto saying that he overtrained for the fight doesn't make a difference?

Good point Scar. It's not like Shane has ever taken a beatdown before and he has never been KO,you can say Shane was a young 36 when he fought Cotto.
