I don't know how many would agree, but I do think this is a very interesting point. If the resigning fighter is ahead on points and has a legitimate injury that was not caused by the other fighter, and can present evidence, then a no contest might be a fair way to settle things. It is afterall, misleading to look at Byrd ( or Vitali's ) record and see that Klit was TKO'd. This statistic does not even begin to tell the whole story.
He quit. Embarrassing for a heavyweight title fight. He said before the Lewis fight if he was in the same pain vs Lewis he would carry on... I think Vitali knew he'd made a mistake saying "it hurts too much!" and quitting vs Byrd. He gave a good account of himself vs Lewis but still ultimately got stopped.
Vitali didnt dominate like he wanted to, he got injured and pussied out, course he was scared Byrd might make him look even worse... Two years later Holyfield got the exact same injury when fighting Byrd. He got it in round two, but still bravely battled on. Even though he lost, this is the difference between a real great heavy and a sorry wanna be...
.............so now Vitali Klitschko is a sorry wannabe? That wannabe is currently ruling the WBC heavyweight Championship of the World in case you haven't noticed. Hurts doesn't it? You would've preffered he ruin his shoulder for good and never became Champion because then you wouldn't look so stupid for picking against him. Admit it ***** lips...............You just can't stnd the fact that his way to the top worked and you're still flippin' burgers.:yep
I suppose he could have fought with one arm like Golota did against Austin before he was forced to quit. But I do agree it's part of the game. When you get punched and fall it's also an injury.
None of this negates the fact that Byrd weren't knocking Vitali out and even if he won the last three rounds he still woulda lost on points. liljp361 is a troll and an idiot looking to stir the pot because he has an agenda against Vitali.
I guess the knack would be proving that the injury wasn't caused by Byrd. Particularly given that Byrd had two or three other opponents complain of shoulder injuries in fighting him, due to much the same reason - loading up the power shots against a slipperly, elusive guy like Byrd.
Golota beat Byrd hands down and also suffered a bad shoulder injury in that fight. Byrd can be a pain in the ass to his opponents.
