I think it was quoted somewhere that Duva said she has a good relationship with RocNation, so that gives me hope that within 12-18 months, barring a setback suffered by either, it could become a reality.

The reality remains, still, that Ward will almost undoubtedly get the A-side treatment during negotiations.

    And he should.

Ward is the bigger draw. And the far more accomplished fighter.

this could further suggest Ward could have problems making 168 in the future

I'd like to see Ward beat a top 10 LHW before facing Kovalev though

I would not mind seeing Ward/Kovalev be at 168. 175's a little too big for Ward.

Actually after BHop and Pascal , Kovalev is more accomplished.

Also, do you know what the word "draw" means in a boxing context? Hard numbers, easily and publicly available clearly prove Kovalev is the bigger draw.

I actually don't dislike Ward, but for some reason some people think he has all sorts of drawing power and leverage because he won a tourney many years ago. I don't think he even rates in the top 20 draws in the sport anymore.

Approximate drawing ranking - mix of #'s, money generated by fight (not paid by promoter) , TV ratings weighted for pay/premium/PPV , and ticket sales in numbers. Going by past couple/three fights they headlined / A-sided or shared A-side... (like Floyd/PAC.. Floyd was bigger A side, but fight didn't 500m just with Floyd)

    1. Floyd. derp.
    2. Manny.
    3. Wlad (Europe)
    4. Froch
    5. Canelo
    6. Cotto
    7. Sturm (about to drop off, should probably retire)
    8. JMM (retiring soon )
    9. GGG
    10. Crawford
    11. Kovalev
    12. Brook

    Not exact, only covers NA/EU...

Honorable mentions for Matty, Provo, Garcia, Broner, Bradley, Lemiuex, Stevenson, Thurman, Lee who at the right time and place can sell vs the right opponent. But either don't carry the show solo, or their promoter does boneheaded things like take them out of home market and put them in papered events. (Like Broner, dude is a legit draw at US Bank in Cincy... Haymon puts him on papered events now...???? Having Broner/Porter in Vegas? WTFMAN?)

But anyhow, Ward doesn't even currently make honorable mention list and has dropped from premium cable for the time being.

If Ward could beat GGG and Kovalev in a relatively short space of time, that would give him an incredible resume

Do you think Ward is a small SMW?

Hopefully it can happen early 2016. Ward needs to prove his Chin against a savage puncher.

Why bring up "older" and then bring up Hopkins?

Ward is about 20 years younger than Hopkins.

    Hes in his physical prime.
