This shouldn't be sanctioned. Earl is a good fighter with real heart, but he's well beyond shot at this stage and Kats could really do some damage to him.

You cant really compare a 1 off fight for his fans in Oz against a can with the likes of The Mundine circus and their dealings over the last couple of years :deal

Kats coming off two brutal loses, why not a can to make a quid back home and get the confidence happening agan...... Probably get a big crowd with Earl being a Pom, plus keep replaying the first fight when Kats went down (almost :D) and hype it to death for mainstream sports fans.

If you could imagine a newspaper created by some of the worst posters in the General Forum and Lounge of this site, then that is The Sun.

Once in a blue moon they get a legit 'leak' or break or something, but it's a numbers game for them. 'For every 1000 conspiracy theories, stories and scandals you write about, 1 of them has to be right, right?'

Still, page 3 is okay and it can be entertaining at times, but mostly infuriating.

I'm with you on that Stiffy, but it's good to see him take a fight with Earl when his been in the ring with the best in his last couple. And Earl is risking alot comming into this fight off a long lay off, could be a bad move.....

He's been trying his hand at promoting, and I believe he lost a bundle of cash trying to promote some fights over in Ireland...

    Katsidis scopes Coast for comeback

by Jake Dew - Gold Coast dot com au - June 2nd 2011

IT may be smaller than Las Vegas' famed MGM Grand but the Gold Coast Convention Centre looms as a possible stage for lightweight boxing champion Michael Katsidis' Aussie comeback.

The GCCC has emerged alongside Melbourne, Brisbane and the 30-year-old Katsidis's hometown of Toowoomba as a leading contender to host the fight in August, with Katsidis and his team surveying the facility yesterday.

Katsidis, whose last fight in Australia in 2006 ended with his second-round knockout of Thailand's Jakkirt Suwunnalirt, felt it was time to fight on home turf.

"When I was 23-0 with 19 knockouts no one was ever going to leave America to come and fight me in my backyard," said Katsidis, whose record now sits at 27-4 with 22 knockouts.

"But now I've been there and I'm established worldwide I don't see why we can't bring them here.

"Being able to come home and launch from here is going to be a big advantage. It's been five years and we're putting together everything we can to make it happen."

With a list of challengers waiting, including Brit Graham Earl, Katsidis and trainer Brendon Smith were in the process of nutting out the final plans with a decision expected within a fortnight.
