Kelly Pavlik needs Paul "The Punisher" Williams

Have you ever heard Pavlik was way over pay in the Lockett fight? I mean **** 2.5 million to face a bum on hbo? I heard the ratings for that fight was terrible in which is why hbo refuse to put Pavlik vs Rubio. And also it shows again that even though Hbo pick 4 fighters for Pavlik to face, they won't put up more then 1 million for Pavlik to beat an easy opponent like the Sturm fight in which Pavlik will only get 1 million dollars.

 

Why wouldn't his stamina hold up? Pavlik fights nothing like Andrade and Bute's stamina was perfectly fine in the other 23 fights he had so far.

 

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think PW will get KO'd. But, from each fighter's perspective - where they're confident of winning - it's a good idea. They're going to have to roll the dice at some point, anyway; it's not like there are many other fights out there.

Well, it depends on the manner of the victory. If Pdub collapses after eating one right hand in the first round, then Pavlik won't get much credit. If it's a war and Pavlik grinds him down and stops him late, he will. In any case, it beats fighting Martinez.

 

Don't twist the simple truth and fact.

Pavlik is already a established fighter and name at 160 . . . his real weigh division . . . Williams is just another promising and exciting fighter . . . so if they'll fight at 160 . . . who calls the shot.

You're distracting the issue again. OBVIOUSLY, Williams vs. Pavlik is worth more than Pavlik vs. X or Williams vs. Y; that's the nature of the game. That doesn't stop Pavlik being the bigger draw. Pavlik vs. X would make more money than Williams vs. X, for starters. And, as I mentioned earlier, Pavlik is a bigger name, has mixed in more famous company, sells out the Boardwalk Hall and is the champ at 160.

 

Name 2 middleweights other than Pavlik that you would bet 10K on against Paul:yep

 

Regardless, Pavlik has a bigger following and brings more cash to the table.

 

Ouch and Pavlik is a draw? Plus his ppv buys vs Taylor and Hopkins was around way under 300k? Ouch. Hbo obviouslly is not giving Pavlik close to 2 million unless Pavlik face a real opponent like the Williams fight. I know you don't like that Pavlik might face Williams but i like it cause i feel Williams can beat Pavlik.

 

Any fighters can sell out in atlantic city if it's cheap like in Pavlik vs Rubio. Again if Pavlik is a draw or a bigger draw as you say then why hbo wouldn't offer more then close to 2 million for Pavlik facing Sturm? You can't be a draw if he can't have good tv ratings and can't have terrible ppv buys twice in a row vs name opponents like Taylor and Hopkins.

Could not agree with you more, **** fight if you ask me! I pretty much said the same thing you did when the fight was intially anounced. I would rather see Kelly take on Sturm, Mundine Gevor, legitimate MWeights.

 

AGAIN, a fighter being a decent draw doesn't imply he could make a fortune against anybody. How many times do I have to say it? - PW vs. KP is the big money fight for both guys. It doesn't mean Pavlik isn't the bigger draw.

To help you understand this feat of the business world, consider the following example. Mayweather is a bigger draw than Marquez, but Mayweather would make more by fighting Marquez than by fighting some random cupcake.
