The fight was stopped because Cotto was running scared trying to avoid the inevitable TKO.

Haha, no way. Cotto done well early and in a late burst, but other than that he was dominated. He still made it pretty competitive though.

Cotto wouldn't have necessarily completed the 12th. Pacman was careful not to punch himself out in rounds 10 and 11, but he shook Cotto several times, and with one minute left in the last round, he was definitely going to go all out.

The stoppage was somehow premature but not completely outrageous either. I DID want Cotto to be allowed to finish but I was convinced Pac would go gung ho in the last minute and finish Cotto off.

At least this way he finished with both feet on the ground.

i did think it was a light stoppage. if he was going to stop it then he should have stopped it in the 9th, when pacquiao was actually landing hard punches. cotto would have seen out the round, or at least be legitimately knocked out.
also why does everybody keep saying pac is a 7 weight world champion, i'm not trying to take anything away from him, but he isn't a 7 weight champion.

I think it was a good stoppage. When he intervened, Cotto wasn't protecting
himself anymore. Protecting Cotto from more damage was the right thing to
do and could have been done earlier. The only reason that Cotto didn't look
extremely awful in round 10 or 11 imho , was that Pacquiao didn't want to
beat him into a come like Z Gorres was yesterday. When Pac did go for the
KO in 12, Bayless was right to intervene.

I had got winning the 10th and 11th because Manny really couldn't land anything because of Cotto's "running"/movement, Cotto was jabbing the man to death and Cotto was catching the first punch in Manny's flurries rolling and dodging alot and then moving out the back door. On my card Manny needed a to win the last round to keep it from being a draw. I don't understand the stoppage, especially since Cotto had survived the flurry and rolled away from Manny. The stoppage made no sense what so ever.

So hard to tell what's a joke and what isn't. I'm assuming that this must be.
