It was legal but not the right thing to do.The right thing to do was to beat the **** outta ortiz for the remainder of the fight and give the fans their moneys worth.At the end of the day too much **** went on in the ring enough for me to call it a fix.

So if cortez didnt take his eyes away from the the fighters what do you think would happen? Do you think he would hav stopped floyd from punching? You wish he would have dq'd floyd right? I seriously do not think Ortiz would react the same stupid way had Kenny been there. Cortez is an indecisive, instinct challenged ref. IMHO Ortiz unconsciously took cues from Cortez´s body language which, even though the fight was officially timed in, strongly suggested the fight was still in time out mode. Cortez was caught with his pants down, looking away, out of position with his body and talking to someone at ring side, when he resumed the fight. Bayless would have been decisive and nothing about this would be ambiguous. Unlike with Bayless, there are always question marks with Cortez.


BTW. I just laugh whenever Kenny makes those googly eyes, its hillarious. he should challenge Max for who has the biggest Gonzo eyes. ........but seriously he´s a terrific ref. All great refs share two attributes in common: the right reffing instincts (when to interject and when no to) and decisiveness and Kenny is in there with the best of them and there aren´t many. Tough but firm just manages to stay in the biz by muddling through and not screwing up too too big.
