Reading the Prediction League, the general consensus is it will be an easy nights work for Jose.

Aldo is rightly the favourite, but Kenny is a LIVE underdog in this one. The biggest problem for Kenny is the leaping lead left hook to the body/head. Aldo is very good at closing the distance with this, and landing a right hand/leg kick follow up. But I think if Kenny studies Aldo's tapes he'll realise if you can block the 1st punch and circle right instead of straight back like most of Aldo's opponents seem to do then there's a great opportunity to counter Jose with a lead left of his own

Aldo's rangiest weapons are his jab and his right leg kicks, both of which he uses very well. But I think the best way to counter this is by going on the offensive. Trying to counter punch Aldo's jab is fruitless as he has the best head movement in MMA barring maybe Penn and Anderson. Kenny has a good jab of his own and he shouldnt be afraid to use it, he's tall and rangey with a decent snap to his jab and blocks counter pretty well himself and has good reach knowledge and decent kod power too. Also being a southpaw poses a different set of problems to the ones Aldo face with Hominicks jab

But I think Kenny should be countering Aldo's jab with kicks. The smart thing to do here would be to use his height advantage and fire a right kick at Jose's head and body eveytime he tries to work off his jab. He maybe wont kod Aldo, but constant punishment to the body and arm if Jose blocks the kicks will pay dividends as the fight progresses. And right from the opening bell, Kenny should take the initiative and fire some leg kicks at Aldo's lead left leg. Aldo leaves this leg forward due to his boxing stance he likes to adopt, and this is how his gains so much power due to the added momentum he gains when swinging his right leg into this oppositions thighs. Kenny should try and take this away from him and again use his height advantage and reach knowledge to good effect, with the added bonus that if he can do some damage to Aldo's legs early, it will have an effect on Aldo's aforementioned lead left hook and flying knee's

Finally, Kenny should be pressing Jose up against the cage and land as many elbows as possible. Florian has razor blade elbows and Jose has questionable stamina recently, Im sure everyone can see the advantages of this gameplan before this post turns into an essay.

Easier said than done of course. But I think this fight is a little less straight forward than Aldo by Kod.

Now watch Jose kod Kenny with the 1st punch and make me look a complete idiot :nut

Good thread. I don't see this as being a walkover for Aldo either.

I know I concentrated on the stand up, but Kenny will clinch and elbow/knee Aldo here, he tried it with BJ, and was moderately succesful for a spell. And I dont think it will be a walk in the park if Kenny does strike with Jose anyway

Kenny always fights smart, and Jose cant smoother him with wrestling, which is Florians obvious weakness

Excellent breakdown and the technical points do apply, but I also feel that you wasted your time with this because Aldo's speed and power are going to be too much for Kenny and his less-than-stellar Mandible. Think of his last fight and how close Aldo-Lite came to putting him away in two separate rounds and then think of how perfect a fight he'll have to fight to avoid the same thing happening with a far more competent finisher on top of him.

Florians only chance is to get aldo down and stay on top for 3 of the 5 rounds. On feet he is gonna get destroyed.

Great analysis.. Both men seem to have been effected by the weight cut in their last fights. If Kenny wins, I don't see him holding that title for long.. Whether it's taken or he vacates.

Florian is a crafty fighter, he knows the game, himself, and his opponents very well.. I'm hoping that he gets his title.

I think it's Florian's fight beyond the 3rd round.. Here lies hope he doesn't get KTFO before then.

Diego didnt come nowhere near finishing Florian there fella, he got knocked down twice at the end of both rounds but didnt look dazed and sprung right back up. His chin is fine, he got knocked down, but no where near knodded

But I'll agree that Aldo, if he knocks Kenny down in similar fashion, is more than capable of finishing the fight. So you can spare me the denier rubbish, Ive read it before and I understand and agree with your reasons for Aldo winning the fight in that fashion

But on the other hand, if Kenny can gain top control like Mark did, then he's gonna slice Aldo open if he displays the **** poor guard he did through out that fight.

In short, it's gonna be exciting either way

Kenny may very well get ****ed up in a hurry if he can't control the range with his jab, and quickly close the distance. We'll see if Aldo's leg kicks take Florian's jab away.

I don't think Aldo can stop Florian from taking him down if he closes the distance, and on the ground, I think this fight is all Florian.

I dont think it would be smart for kenny to use the jab to control the range, as I said Aldo's head movement is exceptional. Maybe kicks would do the job here in terms of exploiting the reach knowledge without getting countered too often. That said with a SP jab, he should be using in to set something up with he left, Aldo always instinctively dips the shoulder to his left to counter a traditional jab, maybe Ken Flo can exploit this

But I think this fight will be won on the ground, and I WAS saving that for when I make my picks tomorrow...
