I think the ref did a great job. style wise, the fighters clashed. mainly bc of porters blitzkrieg boxing. however, the ref did not impact the fight by deducting any points but constantly warned both fighters as a reminder, neutrally. He constantly encouraged the fighters to fight out, letting them decide who was going to win the dirty contest the way its supposed to be done as none of the fouls were egregious enough to deduct a point. we need this kind of ref more often who can make an impact but not enough to determine the outcome. I felt that brooks holding was not excessive but rather very tactful. Most of his holding was just parrying his arms to block the inside punches as opposed to blatant hugging like Vladimir clitco. at other times, he let porter jump in and simply closed distance using body to body contact, smothering porters attack. It was very skilled holding, although he needs to work on actually letting his hands go on the inside with short snappy punches. once he develops this skill, he will cause problems for a lot of people.
all that wild sht porter was doing brook was suppose to tie his man. come yo ass down son. thats what brook should have said but brook is the better boxer and he is not frail like the magic man. porter could not rag doll brook like he did paulie and he is the better boxer. i wanted brook to at least put him down but you can thank victor conte for that. juice dont give you skill but you can take a hell of a shot and keep coming. oh wassup with rabbit punches no points deducted or nothing, just let porter do what hell he wanted to do. non bias ref would have calmed all that sht down i think. im just glad brook aint get robbed because the fight was not that close. 116 to 112 ud for brook it should have been and even more then that for points for the rabbit punches.
