Trainers say **** all the time to get their fighters to stick to the game plan, the idea here was to win so he could get a shot at the WBC title, this was Margaritos first fight with garcia of which Garcia wanted Margarito to box more. Thats why he told him to move do not stand still or in front of him.... it was a clean knock down you can sugar coat it and call it a flash all you want but look at his face when he starts to get up, he stays on one Knee and gathers himself..... flash KD may ass
I agree Garcia did win that fight pretty clear as well, But Cintron and Smith close fight either guy could have won it.
I didn't see the Cintron - Smith fight but Teddy Atlas said Garcia did do a lot better aginst Smith than Cintron
Garcia is very slow as IB indicated(so much so he made Margarito look like a half-decent boxer), but I don't think the current, shot arm punching version of Kermit is going to be able to give Garcia any pause with his punches, so I see Garcia walking through him and either stopping him or something goofy happens in there. Either way, Kermit loses.
Shields knows the fight game. With coaches it isn't quite black and white, "this guy's better than that guy". At a certain level it's more about who's the best fit in terms of personality, temperament, work ethic etc. Steward is a great trainer, but he isn't the right trainer for everybody. He doesn't brook any nonsense. If you have a shred of disciplinary issues (see: Cintron, Dawson, etc.) he's got no time for you.
