I hope Mikkel doesn't quit. He's a fantastic fighter, he's young and he has a lot to give. I'm gonna write to him and threaten to kick his ass if he quits. Yeah, that should do it.
He may not have said that at all; he might just have said that he doesn't see where his career is going - and rightly so; he is in a tough spot right now, even as the future MAN at 168 after Joe retires. If Mikkel retired, it would be a HUGE loss to the game, I think! 2008 is a hard year for him, if Braehmer doesn't fight him for a title. But 2009 should be good, with Bute coming on the scene and some more belts being up for grabs! Come on, Mikkel, you have to grind it out! :deal
like someone said, if he feels like he's not going anywhere or developing he should sign up with an american promoter and continue his career over in the states. he's already proven to be hbo-friendly
He can't retire yet. He's only suffered one loss, plus he's young. Yeah, Calzaghe proved he was too much, but that doesn't mean he can't make a comeback. I'd bet he could beat just about anyone in the division minus Calzaghe
These kind of things happen to many Danish fighters, I wonder what it is with fighters like this with padded records and their inability to cope with not being the best...fragile egos maybe?
more likely he would sign with universum or sauerland given that he lives in germany. but palle would rather he retired than let him sign for another promoter if his past track record is anything to go by.
I hope this is just talk. Mikkell Kesler has alot to offer us boxing I was also kind of hoping that we would see Joe retire after the Hopkins fight, Mikkel wins all the belts, and then over say 2009-2010 we get to see Kessler/Pavlik go life and death for dominance at 168. A trilogy. Pavlik can't make a bad fight, and Mikkel would give him hell. Whatever, Kessler decide I wish him the best, but I do hope he sticks around for awhile! Boo
