taylor's fought the best in his division (middle), and pavlik and hopkins are proven world class beaters who proved it on the world stage. kessler cleaned out the contenders in an ordinary division while make small waves in the US, then lost to the division's top dog. why would taylor fight a dangerous guy like kessler when kessler isn't making the waves taylor did (and had too) to make his name?
Kessler has said he would fight Dawson at SMW or at a catchweight, Gary Shaw has said he's not interested in making a fight at those weights. Shaw says Dawson would fight Kessler in the US at 175, Mogens Palle has said he's not interested in making a fight at that weight. The only blind people are those that can look at the above equation and claim that it is down to one side that the fight is not on.
ranked number 1 and he's earnt it, sure. that makes him a dangerous fight. but he's a dangerous fighter who doesn't bring any financial clout to the table - and THAT'S what makes a big fight happen. he can fly to the US 365 days a year if he likes. it's not going to help him get a big fight in the US until he starts beating fighters in the US - or at least on PPV. he only has to make waves against ranked fighters to do that. a big fight isn't going to fall into his lap just because he's a dangerous fighter in an ordinary division - who isn't making himself more marketable in the US. its a game - and if he doesnt play it he'll be doing this until he retires unless he gets lucky.
Didnt they say that they would go up in weight to face Bhop or Calzaghe? Get it right homie, hes not interested going up in weight to face Dawson, but he would go up.
you mean the 'title' he won against sartisan? that's the sort of thing that cheapens boxing by the way it unfolded - and that's why team palle took that fight instead of a HBO backed fight against miranda - which would have been a lot more meaningful.
That's what that sentence is supposed to say. I thought it was reasonably clear we were talking about the Dawson/Kessler situation.
Your telling him to go and fight in the US but no one will give him a fight in the US because hes to dangerous but he won't get any recognition until he fights in the US. Paradox.
Kessler doesn't have to play any game. Taylor has to fight him 4 the ranking. If he avoids him because of supposed lack of marketability he's gonna look like a ***** & people will keep saying Kesslers better. Plus I'm sure Calzaghe made a bit of money out of fighting him
yes he is. thats a plus. but kessler's also one of the least marketable fighters in the world at the top of the tree. and don't forget, even though the groundwork has been laid and kessler has a reasonable international fanbase, he's still a dangerous fighter who has not beaten a proven world class fighter. he's done a superb job beating legitimate contenders pre-calzaghe, but because palle played the homefield all too often the fight wasn't shown on,say, a PPV undercard, and so it minimised kessler's momentum overseas.
We seems to agree. I think it was exactly what i stated just before: "The contender should seek to fight they so called champions. Its all right for me to let Bute and Froch have 2 defenses before confronting Kessler. One of the fight could be against Taylor. In Kessler's 5.th fight as champ, he did unified the wba and wbc and went for the wbo and the ringbelt - but i don't expect others to do this, even though it would be great. Taylor should fight Kessler, Bute or Froch next. And then the big round of unifications fights shut begin. Any problem in this ?"
