Because top quality fighters, that barely drop rounds should be given the benefit of the doubt after a lay off and their first loss. It's not like he was awful in there. He just wasn't at the level he's previously set.
And for the heart question you can always show the 12th round of the Calzaghe fight - Kessler is trying to jump on Calzaghe like a f*ing beast throwing - and in the very end - landing sick punches... That's pure heart in my book... and you can show heart without getting knocked down because of showing your chin to a big pucher like Taylor and getting caught with stupid punches...
Well -- you're right about the 12th round, but from the middle rounds util then Kessler looked like he didn't want to be there. You are also right about Pavlik's stupid ****, but I've criticised him as much as anyone for that.
I disagree, Kessler was totally befuddled. He did not expect Calzaghe to jab him, let alone out jab him. The guy was a rabbit in the headlights. He knew he was losing but didn't know what to do about it. In round 12 he snapped out of it, obviously too late, and just went for it.
well -- I'm giving him credit for going for it in the 12th. Another factor was that his corner SUCKED!!
had he fought the 6th -11th like the 12th and took some chances, but he was in total Statue mode and the in round 12 for 3 minutes he put in an effort.
How can you call yourself a fan, when you dislodge the sensible thing for Kessler to do; regain a title quick so he can bring more to the table for the bigger fights. Afterall, he had hoped that the much better Mundine would have fought him again - at least for returning the favor. You give AA credit for going to USA and beating a B- lvl fighter in Miranda, but give no credit for Kessler and Calzaghe? And bull**** defences for Kessler? Siaca (Champ) - his first title. Mundine - (ex-champ and first mandatory). 1st def Lucas (ex-champ) 2nd def Beyer (several time Champ) 3rd def Andrade (Undefeated and first mandatory) 4th def Calzaghe (20 time WC champ) Sartison (first mandatory since Braehmer moved up, and Mundine dropped the belt). Bull**** defences? You claim you have followed boxing for many years - certainly not the european scene. If you try argue against this - you are a ****ing tool.
Secondly - maybe Pavlik and AA should move to SMW before calling Calzaghe and Kessler for pussies. And pavlik? He has just faced a ****ing c+ lvl fighter, and is going to meet another.
C+ is being kind to Lockett. And yes, RafaelGonzalez is a complete tool. Virtually all his posts are anti-European. Infact, anti-fighters in general, consistently criticising and offering little constructive analysis.
Tailor made? Nah, their styles match up prety well with each other though. Both are upright guys who like to throw many punches and like to unload that 1-2 combination a lot. Difference I see is that Kessler is more athletic, thus he's probably quicker in every area and maybe a more varied offense, but much of that comes with his greater experience. Give Kelly another fight or two to improve on his craft and I'd have no problems picking Pavlik over Kessler in the near future. Although right now I'd take Kessler to win it in a prety damn exciting fight.
Another fine post by JR! As president of The Pavlik Nation, I can honestly say Kessler makes me more nervous than anyone else who gets attention. Pavlik has shown us he can handle swarmers, a cagey southpaw, fast hands, sluggers, et, but he has never even been in the ring with a big, strong, fudamentally solid, stand up boxer.
