Dawson is to strong and to fast for Kessler. Smart on his behalf to stay away from Dawson.

Vitaly is too big and too strong for Hopkins. Smart of him to stay away.
Kessler is too fast and too skilled for Pavlik. Smart of him to stay away.

    Rubbish, right?

Kessler is a champion. Not some random loser you ask to jump up a division just because it suits some 3. ranked fighter in that division. Dawson can come to 168 if he really believes he can win. Otherwise just shut up. The fact that noone at LHW (Calzaghe and Hopkins) wants to even look at Dawson is not Kesslers problem.

Dawson is in LHW and the fact that it is a dead division is something he must deal with.

Kessler is in SMW which is a very interesting division which is getting more and more interesting with Abraham coming and Ward, Direll etc. Kessler has a ton of interesting fights ahead of him at SMW. And he doesn't need to cowardly call out for fighters from lower divisions to look good. If they come up, Kessler will fight them, but if they don't Kessler will not call them out. Kessler for example never mentioned Pavlik's name before seeing that Pavlik accepted the Hopkins fight.

Dawson is in trouble, but it is his own trouble and he needs to find a way to deal with it.

Then how come Kessler called out Pavlik? He's also called out two LHWs. Dawson really hasn't even called out Kessler. HBO brought it up. Dawson said he would be willing to fight Kessler, but Calzaghe is the guy he called out.

In order to get to Calzaghe, I believe Dawson has to get through Kessler.

Right now, Dawson is not a name fighter and his resume isn't that good.

Dawson had/has a better resume than Kessler.

Dawson's resume is damn good for a 26 year old fighter. How many 26 year old's have beaten 3 top 5 guys in their division and won two legit titles? Let's not also forget that he has wins over solid contenders in the form of Harding, Gardner and Daniels. His resume actually is arguably better than Kessler's. Anyway, Kessler has not intention of fighting Dawson anytime soon.

Remember this Reg, cuz in two years the same guys that are talking crap about Dawson not being a big enough name and making up all the lame ass excuses will be the same ones that are claiming in 18 months to two years from now that Dawson is/did duck kessler.:yep

Only on ESB could a fighter saying he would like to move up in weight to fight either of the two best fighters at the weight above be interpreted as a sign of cowardice

So, just to see if I've got this right:

Fighter pulls out of a mandatory defence of a title and dumps the title in order to fight a shot old guy = not ducking.

Fighter's manager says that hypothetical future fight doesn't offer as good risk/reward presently as other hypothetical future fights against more proven opponents = ducking.

    I see.

Yeah. There are many great fans on here, but we have to admit that Nationalism and Stupidity abound on ESB.

I can't believe how narrow minded some ESB posters are. Moving up in weight is not as easy as people make out, it doesn't suit some boxers and it shouldn't be taken so lightly. Palle is right, it is a big risk to shoot up in weight to fight a young, dangerous opponent. This would only be justified if there was a greater reward. The same ******ed people saying Kessler is ducking, would probably say Dawson was overrated/green/already beated by Johnson...you're a fickle lot.

Kessler is number one at SMW, but there are a host of challengers to that title and he want's to unify. Bute, Froch, Inkin, Taylor, Pavlik etc. etc. Let him establish his resume and career at 168lbs, then he can move up later. That way Dawson can build his resume as well and it will be a real superfight.

Lets face it, Dawson doesn't have the drawing power of Calzaghe and Hopkins at this stage of his career, so he isn't worth the risk until he gets a better reputation.

It just shows that Palle has seen what most experts can't - that Chad Dawson is grossly underrated. He said earlier that he might fight CD if he gets more exposure.

Still CD IS big for a LHW - he has a 77' reach and is 7 f 3! Thats nearly as big as David Haye - yes he started at SMW just like Mikkel Kessler started out at 154 - You always start way below your ideal weight when you're younger.

No, it doesn't. IF Erdei who is a beltholder at LHW wanted a fight would Kessler then jump up to 175? No, he would not. Erdei is far more known - at least in Europe, but Kessler still wouldn;t jump up.

He wants to unify at 168. It is simple and although Dawson (and who knows Erdei-fans too?) would like to imagine other things from it. Fact is that Dawson is far far too small a fish to jump to another division for. And so is Erdei and all the other LHWs. Only Calzaghe and Hopkins have the exposure and names to make it interesting. Read clearly cools comment.

OK here's what he said to Danish TV:

Dawson is practically a cruiserweight that just barely manages to squeeze down in weight before the weigh in and the gains 4-5 kilos (about 10 pounds) the next day. Kessler normally gains about one kilo the next day.

He also said he would be willing to fight Hopkins or Calzaghe at a catchweight like 170 pounds.

    My comment:
Dawson is like the typical US fighter who drains himself to make weight even though he belongs in a higher division - look at the stats H: 6ft3''
    R: 76,5''
Thats pretty standard cruiserweight stats. Palles own cruserweight fighter Anders Hugger is 6'3'' and 75''

It looks like several Kessler huggers have resurfaced: Joeaverage, and of course theH1tman, aka deram.

Good to have you back deram, this forum needs to be re-educated about the Danish robot...not. :rofl
