ok now I know you are full off ****.. you REALLY think that Calzaghe would had beaten a 35 years olds Hopkins the same way he fought the 43 years old??:rofl :rofl :rofl
What happened to Kessler is not uncommon. Those of us who have competed in different sport know the feeling of getting more tired away than at home. I have had experts explain this more than once. You tend to cope with all the new impressions by tensing up more or less and once the fight starts you are already mentally tired and even physically worn from fighting the stress of all the new impressions. Kessler's corner in all due respect is completely inexperienced and inadequate in their ability to guide Kessler on these matters.
You're getting angry again, friend. Chill, why don't you? I don't want to give you no heart-attack! Look, I'm a big fan of Jermain Taylor and he ain't elite either. Kessler is about as good as Jermain. Both look like a million dollars on their day, in parts, but neither are quite the ticket, do you know what I'm saying? And I'm not a fan of Taylor just because he's American or black. I like European fighters a lot, even if they're not elite. Kessler is my favourite European fighter, after Calzaghe. With Calzaghe on the skids, Kessler is my favourite. There, happy now, feller? And no way would Calzaghe have beaten Hopkins if Hopkins has been faded but still capable of fighting twelve rounds at real pace. Hopkins at his best was a true elite, feller. Calzaghe at his best was just a borderline elite.
I knew you were full of **** since I saw you post the first time. You are a disgrace to Canadian posters, who all hold very high quality.
I think Hopkins would have devised a less negative fight because he would have believed in his own ability to fight with Joe. This would most probably have been his downfall and have lead to an easier (or at least clearer) win for Joe. When Hopkins was younger, he was more active, but he really has never had the work ratio to hang with Joe - and even then clinching and negating the fight would have been his best option.
you didnt have answered my question YOU really think that the age of Hopkins didnt matter in that fight???
I am still not angry at all. And I still like to debate, as long as posters aren't idiots, which you aren't. I can only go by the fact that you can't explain why you don't think that Kessler is elite. Which is okay. It's been fun debating with you.
Debating? Nah, feller, let's just say what we think. This ain't a contest and there are no winners. Kessler ain't elite because he's never beaten a borderline elite fighter in their prime. If you beat a borderline elite fighter in their prime, you are probably elite. If you repeat the performance against a borderline elite fighter of a different style, you are the ticket. See?
1) You really don't deserve reply, but I am in a good mood, so. 2) Since I have already stated that a 35 year old Hopkins wouldn't have had a different plan, I see no need to say it yet again. He has always been slower than Calzaghe. He has always tried to bully his opponents using superior size and rough up tactics. This time, he wasn't the bigger man, and he have never had that advantage over Calzaghe. His workrate has also always been lower. Do I need to continue spilling your guts all over ESB?
Yes, he did. However, he has never been in the ring with anyone that throws anywhere near the number of punches that Joe does. I think Hopkins saved himself from being compeltely outworked and beaten up frankly by holding all night long. A more daring Hopkins with better stamina may have tried the open fight (because he was used to being able to do so) and this would probably have given Joe an easier (well, clearer) win.
Younger Calzaghe was a much better fighter too, lets not forget that. There would always be an age gap. Perhaps if Hopkins had the balls to fight 5 years ago when offered, we wouldn't be having this discussion
so what? his workrate has declined over the years? YES his stamina has declined over the years? YES for god sake, he was holding for his life in the end of the fight, where he lost precious rounds, a younger Hopkins wouldnt had been like that :hi:
yeah, but the gaps bewteen a younger calzaghe-old calzaghe is much less than the gap to between a younger hopkins-old hopkins
