Canelo never hurt GGG in any of the fights. The third fight GGG was 8lbs stronger, slower, but stronger than at middleweight and that became obvious after the first round. Canelo even said in the first round knew he probably wasn't going to stop GGG.
No irony at all because Ward knocked **** out of Light Heavyweight world champions like Krusher Kovalev and Bad Chad Dawson when they were the best Light Heavyweights world champions. 3G called Ward out but did not hav3 the guts to step up in weight and fight him which says it all really. Now I understand you like some others on this forum don’t like Ward for reasons best known to yourselves but what cannot be in doubt is Dre’s perfect boxing record which puts him up there with Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather and Super Joe Calzaghe.
"Bad" chad was at 168, where he looked like ****. You really want to use that?? But that is not the point. You want to give 3G **** about fighting smaller guys, but are saying Ward wanted 3G.... and that is OK??? Pick a lane bro. Dre's record does not put him with those guys. That's just an empty stat. The way you guys UP Ward with his resume is 168 is mind boggling. It's not even that deep FFS. He has only a few worthy wins at 168. And all of a sudden....Ward is SRR to you guys. And as you saw in the link, 3G said YES. Ward said NO. Got that??? I have no qualms with Ward.
Bad Chad was the Light Heavyweight World Champion. He called Dre out , not the other way and said he would come down to 168 to fight Ward. The fight was made and Dre kicked his ass and Bad Chad was never the same. 3G, Lil G or whatever he is called it was his team especially his big mouth trainer at the time Abel Sanchez that called out Ward but when push came to shove they won’t take the fight preferring to feast on smaller guys. The facts bear it out and you know it. It might be inconvenient to you and whilst you are entitled to your opinions and feelings you are certainly not entitled to your own facts. Ward did go up to Light Heavyweight and beat the feared undefeated Krusher Kovalev a confirmed certified racist. In fact Ward did not just beat him he took his soul and Kovalev has never been the same which is poetic justice. Thanks Dre, he did it for the culture and for God. He is called SOG(Son of God) for a reason. The problem with you Lance because I read some of your posts clearly is you actually despise boxers or the ones you don’t like. You end your post saying and I quote you “I have no qualms with Ward”, when your posts including this thread. clearly show that you do. Be honest with yourself and stop lying to yourself and admit you hate Ward. I really dislike Kovalev as a person because he is an egregious racist but that will not deter me from acknowledging as one of the best fighters and champions of his era. In fact he was the best Light Heavyweight in the world with real power, fantastic jab until Dre got to him. Few fighters accomplish what Dre did yet to you he only had a few worthy wins at 168 pounds. As Golovkin his losses to Canelo are more memorable than his wins.
who cares who called out who. Dre didn't beat Chad at 175, that's a fact. When I say I have no qualms with him, I don't. Just because one doesn't kiss his ass doesn't mean they hate him. SOG....**** that silly ****. YOU despise boxers too. You cry about other disrespecting boxers, then go do the same thing to those you don't like. FEW fightersa did what Ward did?? What....win a belt in two divisions??? Yeah....two division champs are RARE....
If I don’t like a boxer I am transparent about it but what I don’t do is dismiss their accomplishments which you do with guys you don’t like. You just did it again to Ward who you hate with a passion. The boxers who win titles in several weight divisions are rare but even better is when the beat all comers like Tank did at 168 beating the best in that division in his era then going up and taking out the very best which in the division above in Krusher Kovalev.
Kovalev won the first fight but got robbed. Golovkin fought at middleweight, which is smaller than Ward who is a 168/175 lb fighter.
You can keep crying and bawling your eyes out that Kovalev win the first fight which he did not win as he lost a unanimous decision 113-112 by all 3 judges who adjudicated the fight. I scored it a narrow win for Dre as well after a poor start he worked Kovalev out finding his chinks and susceptibility to body shots. I knew Dre would make it more decisive in the rematch and he did making Kovalev quit. Don’t talk about low punches because that will be the next boring excuse. If Kovalev invested in sit ups instead of Vodka perhaps he would have been less susceptible to body shots.
I think people are forgetting how good prime Kessler was.. the pre Montoya version was even better than the one that beat Froch to a pulp.. go and watch some more peak Kessler you'll see he's quite similar to Bivol in a lot of ways.. the main difference being the Russian has better footwork.. I agree peak GGG was a beast too but at SMW I dont think he would have been as effective, we saw this with the likes of Arthur Abraham who is a lesser fighter but a similar principle applies.. Kessler is at least 6ft & probably walked around at 190.. Jacked.. he would have pummeled the likes of Jacob's ... when GGG stepped up the middleweight competition the margins narrowed noticeably, imagine how the margins would have been at the upper echelons of 168.. Kessler had better workrate & was more athletic than GGG.. I can't see Golovkin knocking him out and I certainly can't see him out working him.. Kessler hard fought UD.
How does he build up his nuts? We disagree with who won the first fight that's for sure, they took all his belts from him even though he won. Ward figured him out in the 2nd fight though he threw a great right hand in addition to low blows. Ward should not be undefeated and Kovalev should be known as the only guy to defeat Ward. Im not a huge Kovalev fan, but i know injustice when i see it.
Well he did not defeat him did he and you wishing he did is wishful thinking. Justice in boxing is decided in the ring and Ward showed he was the better man. Scoring a knock down in the 2nd round does not win you a fight if the other guys gets up and wins more of the remaining rounds than you do. Simple maths really. They did not take all his belts he just lost the fight to the better man. Low blows my ass. The body shots were affecting him and he quit because Dre hurt him and he was looking for a way out. That’s what happens to bullies.
Thank you Sir . Well said. @m.s., @C.J. and @The Real Lance please take note of @AdamT ’s wisdom and stop the crap. Golovkin himself knows he could not beat Ward.
The first fight isnt even debatable, clear robbery. Its almost as known as the infamous GGG vs Canelo 1 draw. Andre did better later in the fight but too little too late, but hey, who cares it's just a Russian guy right?
Dawson was so weakened by tying to get down to a weight he hadn't fought at in 6.5 years he not only got schooled in camp by 12-1 Lionel Thompson but he also got knocked out by Edison Miranda. Tony Bellew saw the video of it that was circulating and posted about having done so in the Brit forum at the time. FTR, both Thompson and Miranda were knocked out in their respective next fights weeks later. Would Andre ''No Concessions'' Ward have ever agreed to move back down to 160 for the GGG fight in a million years? We all know the answer to that even though he would've had home advantage and his obligatory home ref to allow him to fight to a set of rules he penned with his own hand and his home judges to rob GGG just like they robbed Kovalev. Just like we know he would never would've have fought Kovalev in Russia, let alone with a Russian ref. He wouldn't even fight Kovalev in the US with neutral officials for goodness sake, Kovalev fought him in his country x 2 and all 8 of the officials were from.. yep, you guessed it.. the US. The same applies to fighting Adonis, who he categorically ducked, in Canada or Beterbiev in Russia or Canada. He expected GGG and everyone else to play by a set of rules he never dared play by once and never would dare play by once because he knew that without his home advantage and home refs and judges he wouldn't be able to get away with the illegal tactics and cheating which his success hinged on. He wanted GGG to fight him in his country and for his first fight at the weight but he never would've done the same himself in a million years and everyone knows that. He wouldn't go anywhere near Kovalev or any of the top LHWs until he had a whole year and three fights to acclimatize to the new weight. Hence why when he moved up he fought Paul Smith, Sullivan Barrera, and Alexander Brand before he dared step foot in a ring with Kovalev and he knew that he would have home advantage and a home ref and at least 2 home judges when he fought Kovalev. Watch it's right here on tape Timestamped This content is protected Loma fought the #1 ranked lightweight Linares in his first fight at 135 and, unlike Dre who is the same size as Kovalev, Linares was much bigger than him. No three tune ups and a year to settle into the weight for Loma. Who did Twink fight in his first fight in his third weight division? He cherrypicked the WBA regular champ Barrios whose only claim to fame is winning a hometown gift from the home judges against a seven fight novice. He didn't fight the real champ Josh Taylor and even worse, instead of hanging around to try and become undisputed at the weight like Loma did at 135 he dropped that belt like it was molten lead and ducked back down and he won't even fight Garcia at that weight even though Garcia had only moved up to 140 in his last 2 fights and he (Twink) is a supposed world champion at 140 But even if GGG won fair and square we all know Dre's home judges would've robbed him and Dre's home ref would've allowed Dre to octopus grab, elbow, punch him low, and billy goat butt GGG all night. Dre can't criticize GGG for ''chasing smaller fighters'' when he was begging to fight smaller ones himself and he can't criticize them for not fighting him in their first fight at the weight when he never would've done the same himself, even though it would've been in his own country with his obligatory stacked deck But back to Dawson. So Dre who only stopped 2 of his other opponents in his combined 9 title fights and only 3 in total of his last 12 fights, and one of those 3 stoppage wins was on cuts after he inflicted 3 gaping wounds on Kessler's visage from three separate billy goat butts and he was still disgracefully deliberately butting the crap out of him when Kessler's face was already a bloody mess. One of the others was on low blows after his corrupt as sin obligatory home ref decided to wave a fight off on a flagrant foul when the correct course of action is to penalize the fighter who committed the foul and give the receiver of said foul five minutes to recover and had the shoe been on the other foot that's exactly what Weeks would've done. There's zero chance he would've waved that fight off if Dre was the one who'd been fouled and, again, every single one of us knows that. I'm struggling to think of times Dre even scored KDs in any of his world title fights or fights at the world level. The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is the non-title fight against Sullivan Barrera. He couldn't even drop or stop glass jaw Allan Green for goodness sake but he morphed into a power puncher against dead at the weight concussed Dawson all of a sudden who went down repeatedly with alarming ease from nothing shots against him
