Ketchel landed a right hand that seemed to wobble Johnson. It's right there in black and white. Take a look once you can afford digital cable.

Can't understand why you won't open up YouTube and just watch the first round. It's there in black and white.

Watch the first round again since you obviously missed Ketchels right hand. I've been watching it since the early 70's and relatively recently noticed that punch. Nature of the silient film medium.

I watched some youtube clips yesterday and couldnt find it, but they were not the full first round. Do you have a link to the clearest and best ones with the time you are talking about.

I looked at several and each showed the punch. Very clear. Johnsons back to the camera and Ketchel to the left. Ketchel throws a jab to the body just prior to throwing that right hand. Let me see if I can get the time in the round it occurred.

Punch was blocked IMO. Not completely but Johnson has his arm between Ketchel and he. Not a lot on this punch.

Stutter step by Johnson. Hit high on the head.

He landed the punch clean, i thought. It did get Johnsons attention for a second and then Johnson came landed his own shots within a second or so. I dont understand what this means. Of course Johnson was hit with more than one shot in the fight. None did any reasonable damage, though i am sure a couple hurt. That happens in virtually every single heavyweight championship fight and certainly every one that lasted more than a round.

To put that into perspective at about 5.10 of this following clip, Muhammed Ali lands a good shot on Larry Holmes. I dare say, a better shot than what Ketchell landed on Johnson there. It did some damage and certainly hurt Holmes i am sure. But it doesnt stop the Ali Holmes fight from being anything more than an out and out thrashing.

i would have thought that if you go through the tape you will find more than one punch of similar standards in the Johnson Ketchell film. As great as Johnson was defensively, no fighter escapes any heavyweight championship of any lenght without getting hit a little bit.

Nah, not clean. Johnson had something on it:

I'm not saying it didn't hurt, Johnson got hit with it, not me, but that's at least a portion blocked.

It's as I described it. Johnson gets hit and he does a studder step

It is no big deal. I was just answering a poster who stated Jonnson was never hit or hurt in the fight. It certainly looks like he was hit and the punch moved him.

The interesting thing for me is if you watch Ketchel closely you can see he is setting Johnson up for this punch. Sliding in and out, jab to the body, feints....all to get Johnson to move a bit to his left. He does just that and Stanley brings home that right. This makes a point I have made in the past that with these silient era film idiosyncrasies are lost unless you know what your looking at and take the time to closely, very closely, look at the action.

I watched Ali fight Holmes live and remember everyone around me stood up when he connected with that right hand. A little while later they sat down and did not stand again for the rest of the fight.

I thought you were supposed to be some full time writer, or historian. So please do tell, how the fukk are you going to find the time to point out all of Kerry's mistakes?

I hope you can handle insomnia, because you will need to.;)
