Frank Warren quote after the Mitchell/Katsidis fight:

    This content is protected

Mitchell blew his chance against Katsidis, not simply because of the loss, but because of taking the **** in training and barely putting up a fight in the ring. He seriously pissed Warren off, who probably felt very let down after setting the fight up and promoting it for weeks on end. It was embarassing.

Why should Mitchell just walk back into big money fights? This should be seen a great chance to turn his reputation around, proving the doubters (Warren especially) wrong. Instead he's throwing his toys out of the pram after being offered £30k in his first fight back? The lad should be grateful that Warren has set this fight up and not left him behind.

17000 average ticket price £60 is approximately £1 million + tv money

Half of that is gone straight away on Katsidis and Mitchell then a stacked undercard of 12 fights including the 3 olympians so thats 24 fighters purses to pay.

Plus Stadium costs expenses security officials etc etc i think he made little or a break even job.

Back to the point at hand i think Kevin is on the way out already sounds like he is thinking about life after boxing and is thinking about losing and is trying to "cash out" not good sounds either way

Mitchell will not retire,he is trying to get more money out of Warren.Frank wants this fight to help ticket sales on april the 2nd and i think this fight will happen, frank will offer him abit more but Mitchell shouldn`t push his luck.

i think you have to look at what mitchell got for the fight against Johansen on an undercard because it says on bbc that this would be an undercard fight i dont think he should get the same money as he got for his title shot and how do we know the fan base is still there as i think there were a lot pissed fans that night at upton park and even more pissed when they heard he was taking liberties in training i also think this fight would sell in manchester

he is not asking for the same money he got for Katsidis. He deserves parity with Murray.

i dont think Mitchell should be worrying about how much Murray is getting i just think he should just worry about his own and its obvoius Mitchell values himself more thank Warren values him but if the numbers dont add up for Mitchell he should just reject it as he must see it as his last payday or he would take money beat Murray in the eliminator(warren said he could have got it a world title elimanator) and get another chance but the fact he talking of retiring maybe shows his hearts not in it and as shown against Katadis if your hearts not in you can get hurt

So, essentially, you're saying that despite taking the **** in the biggest fight of his career, he should be rewarded by walking back, into a big domestic fight, and get paid in excess of £30,000? After that shambles, he's lucky to have the chance to get a fight that would propel his name back to the top of the UK boxing scene, much less get paid 30k. If he's serious, take this fight, win it, and prove that you're worthy of more big paydays, rather than just being gifted them because you can sell tickets.

He's been made a reasonable offer to kick start his career again.

Win and he's right back in the mix, lose and he's still got a few quid but will have to consider his options.

It just seems to me like he's lost his desire and his an inflated opinion of his true worth.

His promoter paid over the odds to get him home advantage in a big fight which he only got because of his promoter's links to the WBO..... so he went and took shortcuts in training and was promptly KTFO on the night.

I'm not usually one to stick up for Warren (or any other promoter) in most instances, but in this case he's got a point.

Unless he and Frank had words in private on Saturday, he kept himself a safe distance from Warren (who was about ten feet away from us) - whereas everyone else, including DeGale, Gavin, Skeete and even Johnny Greaves went over for a chat.

John Conteh didn't get a minute's peace

Rob, why the **** does Mitchell deserve parity with Murray ??

Murray's the Champion, the bigger fanbase and the new signing for Frank. No way on this planet will he get anywhere near Murrays purse on a good day, let alone in a situation like the one he's in now.

Spent months out with Frank paying his mortgage, gets a golden opportunity which his promoter dug deep to provide, in the best scenario for him (at home in his boyhood football teams stadium) and he blew it. It wasn't just a case of him getting beat it was the way he went about his business.

Seen him on Saturday, lording it up kissing every bloke and woman he spoke to on the cheeks like some Kray. He loves the lifestyle that comes with being a top prizefighter but not the dedication in my opinion.
