Dunno how this goes, but would love to see this tear up. Mitchell could well edge it with his new style of fighting..
Agreed rob however he has come on alot since that fight imo. Look at his opposition since that fight rob...:good
If Murray and Mitchell were able to pick up titles and put together 3,4 defences each it becomes the biggest fight in this country since Benn vs Eubank. Imagine how big Haye vs Enzo would of been if Haye has made more defences. Also i could see it happening. Both Warren and Hennesey rate there fighter highly
graham earl was a excellent fighter in his prime, exciting to watch and tough as ****,i think kev will build himself into a strong LW and do what he can there before moving up again to fight amir,if kevin wins a world title at LW then why move up when clearly LW suits better than going in with the even bigger boys
sharp punching, a good jab and keeping him turning tend to stop Katsidis firing his power shots. Diaz disarmed him for the first half of his fight with him, working inside and keeping him moving. Mitchell's not as good as Diaz, but he punches harder and is a bit more mobile, with longer arms I'd guess. He can use his jab early on to perhaps bust Katsidis up, diminish his visbility, and look for a cuts stoppage.
I think Mitchel has a great chance of beating Katsidis. I think for the first 4 or 5 rounds he will go in there and make it a war. But if he is not getting the better of the exchange he has the option of fighting from the outside to put the rounds in the bank. Could be Gatti vs Ward part 4
He fought an intelligent fight. You don't start a war with someone who punches as hard as Prescott. Katsidis is a different matter.
He needs a fight before coming up to an opponent like Katsidis. He fought well against a clumsy colombian big hitter but Katsidis is more clever and more aggressive. This would turn out to be a war and there is only one winner in a war against the Ozzie. He's already mastered Khan's first real challenge... why not try Kotelnik?? This is a much more suitable fight - will be very close and I think Kotelnik would edge it but if Mitchell can get another W then he proves he is just as, if not more, capable than Khan. Also, if Warren has any aspirations of Mitchell vs Khan then this is the quickest way to get it... the public would demand it!
I would hardly call it life and death. Katsidis controlled most of the short fight only taking a standing 8 in round 2 after being momentarilly stunned. Lets face it it is Earl who has shown the scars of that fight, not Katsidis
Fair play Kevin beat him well, but prescott is an absolute bag of ****. Prescott will never beat another 'world' class fighter. He was unimaginative and one paced. Khan should have handled him with ease. Katsidis is well schooled and can punch a lot harder then Prescott. His punching technique also makes it very difficult to slip and roll his punches. I'd take Mitchell on a very close points victory.
I don't think it was Prescotts punching power that worried Mitchell per se, rather the Columbians significant physical advantages
