Hope so but I have a nagging feeling Madaina may price himself out.

He is and that's a fact. Haters are just indenial and aren't looking at any facts at all.

Maidana knows this could be his last big payday and wants to milk himself for all he can get.

He could try but it would go to purse bids and then he would get the shitty end of a very shitty stick :deal

Maidana will have to bow down sooner or later. If it goes to Purse bids, he's screwed so that's why the negotiations are going good as of now.

Lazarus you have still not responded as to why you think Maidana should not get what he is entitled. It's irrelevent whether it's 3x his last payday, he is the interim chamption and entitled to 45% of the purse

Khan "backs Haye" - I hope he's more daring in the ring than in the bookies.

Khan isn't a Champion in recess

    9. Disbursements of Bids Proceeds. The boxers’ Purse shall be distributed as
    follows:

    a. 75% to the Champion and 25% to the Challenger.
    b. 50% to each contender in the case of vacant titles or elimination bouts.
    c. 55% to the Champion in Recess and 45% to the Interim Champion, in the
    event of such a bout.

I'm sure I read that because khan is not 'champion in recess' this means maidana is just his mandatory and only gets a mandatories share?

It is not as clear cut as that. What each term means is a fluid thing which the WBA never clarifies. However they have stated in multiple press releases in the past that when the champion meets the interim the share is 55% to 45%

    Read below for an example

If you really don't believe it, go scour for WBA press releases and you'll see, or even email them yourself and they'll tell you :)

Maidana is entirely justified in demanding 45%
