He never explicitly said that. More like he thinks it will be nearer to 500,000. He was keeping expectations low with his prediction. Nah he just didn't want to come across boastful and cocky. I have heard Johnny Nelson and brook say the numbers are high.
I've heard that Khan vs Brook on Sky Sports Box Office sold really well, but (of course) they do not go public and say.
I work for Sky based on pre-buys and engagement they were estimating 650k. I don't know the actual post showing figure.
Sky never release numbers for ppv buys officially. It was always hearn or other sources. That includes AJ fights which do huge numbers.
Remember when PPV was booming during 2018. I remember Usyk Bellew did something like 800k PPV buys and Whyte was doing massive numbers. Brook Khan could have been made then as Brook beat that Rabchenka in March and then Khan stopped Lo Greco in April. If it happened during that time, I reckon it would have done 1 million buys.
A tiny percentage of viewers buy Box Office these days - they have priced the product far too high and I blame Eh Day Earn.
They never officially release the buy rate in the UK. People try and figure it out from thr nielsen rating and **** but it's far from accurate. E.g. According to wiki, Usyk v Chisora did over a million buys but that was apparently one of the worst performing PPVs in history. I believe they failed to figure out who watch the fight and who watch the football they was showing on box office for a bit.
Ben Shalom has said huge success with numbers close to AJ. Biggest PPV outside of AJ on sky. https://talksport.com/football/1050445/amir-khan-kell-brook-pay-per-view-numbers-anthony-joshua-ben-shalom/#aoh=16457711619840&csi=0&referrer=https://www.google.com&_tf=From %1$s&share=https://talksport.com/football/1050445/amir-khan-kell-brook-pay-per-view-numbers-anthony-joshua-ben-shalom/ Like I said before. Eddie Hearn was the guy who revealed the numbers. Sky never release PPV numbers and that includes AJ fights.
