Here are a couple of quotes by Thaxton on Khan:

''Khan has received a lot of money and attention. Given where he is at, I personally think it's a bit unjustified and a bit of a circus. I am the man to end it."

"He was floored heavily by someone I consider a light puncher; someone who gave up his status as mandatory contender to my British title. He's getting knocked out the first big punch I land. I would get the job done properly; I wouldn't let him off the hook. I think he was one punch away from being stopped''.

This is just the way boxing is, promoters spur on boxers to talk **** before the fight. It is unfair to single Khan out, 99% boxers do this.

Agreed and Khan's snappy quotes look suspiciously like they were written by a PR bod at Sports Network.

Shows they're looking to take Thaxton for the next fight though which is definitely a good thing.

Based on the fact that Khan would rather he didn't face Thaxton!;)

That really is a ludicrous statement from Khan.

Thaxton may be on the slide (?) but one thing most would agree is that he does have a big punch.

Perhaps Khan's failure to recognise this is due to the fact he has yet to face a big puncher.

If Khan is going to continue to make these ridiculous comments lets hope he ensures Thaxton is his next fight and settle this once and for all.

Khan's opponent for Feb 2nd should be announced next week.

At least Thaxton put this into perspective, nearly every boxer does this ****. Fecking girls on here

Khan will have way too much based on the shite Thaxton produced in his last fight. Khan in 5

I gave the impression of being very cynical. Sorry.

To be honest, I didn't think Khan would fight Earl either. However, Warren, "the best manager in the business" knew that Earl was shot better than anyone here on ESB, so he sold us Earl as this world-beater. There's no way Warren would put Khan in with a live, dangerous Thaxton because the risk is too great. Thaxton is supposed to have a good punch and Khan's chin is supposed to be shaky...So I expect we're only going to get the Thaxton fight if Thaxton is shot and not much of a threat to Khan, who, incidentally, is getting better, it seems, although we will never know for sure how good he is until he faces a live, dangerous threat! If Thaxton is not shot, expect to read more derogatory statements like this in the press, aimed at pouring cold water over the idea of Thaxton v. Khan...we'll only know post facto though whether these statements were made to hype up a fight between them, though...

Until Khan is put in front of someone good, live and dangerous, in their prime, hungry and proud, we won't know how good he is. Let's not forget that Khan is still very young so has the opportunity to become much better than he is now, in theory. Until we see him in a worthy fight, we will continue to assume he is just a hyped show-pony, making money for Warren and aiming at a sheltered career a la Macca, for example.

Fingers crossed that Khan is better than we think and will improve a lot and that that chin is not that shaky...otherwise, Warren will wrap him up in cotton wool forever.

Decebel...I hate Warren as much as you do. However, I think that Khan is actually really hugnry for success and big fights and that separates him from Macca and JC of old (he has woken up). I think if Warren does not deliver good fights to Khan, Khan will walk away. So Warren is in the position where he has to deliver the opponents to Khan that he wants. Thaxton is a risk, but the chances of Khan knocking him out are still very high, the skill descrepancy is just too great. So I think it will happen, as Warren would rather take a small risk, rather then lose Khan alltogether.

I think Warren would not risk Khan; he's invested too much in him as it is and feels a sense of responsibility towards his investment..!...he'll put him up against the best opposition that will not be too much of a risk, to let him develop; in that sense, he is good for his fighters...but none of them are put up against someone better than them to prove themselves, unless Warren wants to cash in on the other guy...if Khan doesn't like it, he'll leave, but he'll probably break his neck in doing so, biting too much at once...Warren does a good job in tempering Khan's wild expectations of himself...Khan should stay with Warren until he becomes more mature and until it's more clear how good he is and can be, I think!

All this about Frank Warren is bull**** as far as Khan goes, we know he's been a wanker in the past, but he has picked the right fights for Khan

He's fought a lot of bums, which every young pro does, not least a kid like Khan. He is a KID. Then he fought a very big durable French guy who's name escapes me, and fought for the commonwealth. He's also fought the guy ranked by most as 1st/2nd in the country, who's been in with a world champ, shot or otherwise

The other thing which everybody forgets is ITV have a massive say. They won't pay for him to fight bums every week, so Warren is forced to justify opponents

There is only one logical step from here, that is Thaxton, and the fight will be made

ITV and Warren will NOT want Khan to lose to Thaxton. If they feel Thaxton is too much of a threat, this fight will not get made, irrespective of what Khan wants. Boxing is a business and ITV is building a brand - the Khan brand. They won't want it going up in smoke. Tis all we're saying...

Too much of a threat? Bollocks, Thaxton just isn't very good. Khan has to get in their with him eventually, and Warren more than anybody will realise now is the best time as Khan's confidence is on a high

Khan may have one more fight before Thaxton, but no more than that

Purse bids for the fight (kahn jono) are being opened on Jan 12th. SN obviously confident of getting the fight, but who'd bet against Sky putting a large sum of money up for Hennessy to rival SN's bid and pinch Khan for a fight?

    So it will happen.
