Khan getting braver after Earl KO...

What a surprise! Seems every time Khan gets some criticism on here comments are made at other boxers expense - usually Murray and Mitchell.

I expect they would get the same stick if they had also just called out a domestic rival (who happens to be the British Champ) - rubbishing his reputation, suggesting he had gone into hiding and then announcing within a couple of days that Khan was fighting a light hitting guy hardly anyone has heard of with a very odd looking record.

 

i'm saying hypothetically if either fighter made a name for themselves and were known in the public eye. no one would give them **** for running there mouths off.

 

Errr...yeah they would. All boxers do it but it sticks in the craw for some. Particulalry if the fighter is still young and has yet to acheive anything in the pro game. Ordinarily these fighters are not yet in the public eye, but Khan is because of his Olympic exploits.

 

Faisal - forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't you start a thread entitled 'Fake behaviour by Mr Khan' in which you made reference yourself to Khan's stupid statements, moronic bravado and that he came across as an arrogant ********!

 

It wasnt the fact he won the silver that gets him all the hype, its the fact he was the only british boxer in the olympics at that time.

As long as he keeps getting matched up with light punchers theres always gonna be questions, its basic logic!

No one can deny the fact that Khan is being matched with fighters with consistently low KO %'s.

Anyone, from the outside would think that Warren is worried about Khans chin.:huh

I will re-iterate that his last two performances have been excellent, he has improved by alot, however that question still remains.

 

thats got nothing to do with what i'm talking about theres things i dont like about khan but i some times feel theres bias against him because of his cultural background.

 

"Cultural background"? You mean because he's of Asian decent? Bollocks. There may be a few racist monkeys out there but 99% of the criticism of Khan has **** all to do with his "cultural background".

 

More like the Khan fans can't take fair critisism of their hero, so resort to stuff that has nothing to do with boxing. Cultural background my arse, I've got nothing against northerners.

 

Its posts like these that make it difficult to have rational debate about Khan. Cultural differences don't come into it.

There are people from a similar cultural background to Khan that criticise him - does that make them biased against him also?

You have said there are things you don't like about Khan and I understand from some of your posts that you are british asian yourself.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - Khan brings a lot of the criticism he gets on himself, it really is as simple as that - no hidden agenda and if you are looking for one Brit ESB is the wrong place.

 

As someone mentioned, only a minority of people take account of Khan's ethnic background (yes, there are some).

Most of the criticism is based on other aspects that aren't related to his background.

Some criticise his attitude (lacks his initial humility), but I think the most common criticism is on his opposition (this would be more against Frank Warren than Amir Khan).

Also, it's normal that whenever someone is hyped then people will criticise, and this is the case with Khan.

This also happens to be the general trend with English sports (I won't say British, because I hardly see Welsh, Scots, N.Irish doing it).

Rooney was being compared to Pele when he made his first large scale impact at Euro 2004.

 

Im implying that if 10 guys were in the olympics representing the UK the Hype would have been divided amongst them all rather than the whole of the UK watching one solitary fighter during the campaign(as I said...its basic logic)

As for Harrison and Arthur being easy opponents for Khan....that suggests to me that you know absolutely feck all about boxing and you have recently boarded the Khan bandwagon. If Khan keeps fighting light punchers then of course people are gonna ask questions. Limond was a light puncher at a weight below never mind Lightweight and considering he had Khan near to unconsciousness in their bout I, like many others question the durability of his chin (again, basic logic)


Arthur's boat has sailed imo but as for Harrison, he might have had limited skills but he managed to get alot further than Amir likely will and Harrison was/is imo vewry under-rated

 

It depends what you call unfair criticism - obviously the reference to people hoping Khan gets KO'ed just so they can see his family's reaction is completely uncalled for.

As was the 10 page thread after the Hatton fight ridiculing his girlfriend's reaction ringside after he was knocked down against Mayweather.

It is NOT just Khan that is singled out by the ignorant and those types of posts don't usually appear on the brit forum thankfully.
