Khan in top 10 P4P

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Coldhearted, Nov 21, 2011.

  1. The lower half of the top 10 can be any five from about 20 fighters.

    Froch
    Ward
    Both Klitschkos
    Hopkins
    Segura
    Gamboa
    Khan
    Bradley

    and plenty more.

With so many divisions having loads of paper champs content to fight bus drivers or old, faded names the lack of clarity will only continue further.

It's no coincidence that all the top five are quite old guys that have had a long career, Donaire aside.

Aye but there's nothing wrong with having Khan above Bradley IMO. It's not as if Tim has done loads more.

Bradley, Ward, Hopkins, Khan, Roman Gonzalez, Robert Guerrero, Mares, Mijares, Nishioka, John, Kessler, Cotto, Froch, Agbeko, Pong, Segura, Wlad, Vitali, Nkosinathi Joyi, Gamboa and probably a good few more could all feasibly reside somewhere in the latter half, it's no big deal if Khan's ranked higher than the majority them.

    5. Nonito Donaire

I don't know Donaire that well, but what is better about his CV at his weight than Wlad's at HW? I see Donaire consistently above Wlad in P4P, but I'm not convinced that he should be...

He's beaten better fighters and looked better/just as good doing so. I don't rate his P4P achievements, just that he's stopped cutting as much weight, but he doesn't need to fight uber safe and has a few marquee wins (Vic, Montiel) that are more impressive than Wlads two best wins (Chambers, Haye)

    IMO :good

I have Wlad over Sergio though.

Why does Khan have a better resume than Bradley?

Recent form? Yes. But if you just go on wins amassed there's nothing between them.

Well he's got at least two victories that are better than any Wlad has ever recorded, added to that what's left of his best wins far superceed the ones in which Wladimir wields(the likes of Mthalane are far better than guys like Chambers), all the while looking far superior. He's probably the 2nd or 3rd best in the entire sport talent-wise.

Considering you labelled Klassen a ''good win'' for someone earlier today your memory must be rather short;), Honorio's another good one(at the time it was, anyways). I wouldn't have him anywhere near really, but I've seen many who do have him in there, and he probably resides at the base of the aforementioned group anyways so I felt I might as well throw him in. He's built up a lot of solid wins and looked impressive in doing so, though the lack of a marquee victory(a la Ward-Kessler) counter acts his seemingly decent ability.

He's not top 10 but its not that important or outlandish especially when you consider that it's a computerised ranking.

Hard to argue with him being in top 15.
