Khan/Maidana Rematch would be a Mismatch...

I know Khan's feeling it right now and talking gibberish 'bout the cancellation and everything but if this fight gonna happen Khan would whoop Maidana worst this time. Amir didn't follow the game plan and was trying to prove his chin by going at it against perhaps the sturdiest fighter in the division. This time he'll be smarter and will box Maidana from the outside and will go for the kill later in the Championship rounds... :deal:deal:deal

you cant know that for sure, maidana almost knocked himout in the final rounds, you could claim if that happened earlier when maidana was more fresh he would have finished it. Khan would be the favoruite but it isnt certain he wins at all.

khan will have improved and maidana will have stayed maidana

unless he learns to fight on the inside quick he will get beat again with his slow ass wide looping punches.

I agree, although it wouldn't be a mismatch. Maidana still makes him uncomfortable and manages to take a few rounds from him. However I think Khan follows Roach's game plan better this time and wins a 9-3 type decision without taking nearly as much punishment as he did in their first fight.

9-3 would be the possible scenario if the rematch happens. Or a possible late TKO. No way Marcos could do that again to Khan (10th round). Khan can fight from the outside get in and out ala Pac and he's fast enough to deliver his punches and get out. Its not like Maidana can counter as good as JMM.

Even if guerrero beat maidana it doesnt clear the fact khan struggled with maidana and since the fight is not happening anyway all of this BS is just speculating at this point, so he needs to shut up make the fight happen or at least quit making it so obvious that he doesnt want maidana again, i mean its not like a fight was promised to the guerrero/maidana winner. Why go out of his way to talk all that **** unless hes concerned.

Khan didn't get hurt because he was fighting too much. He got hurt because he was open for the overhand right all night long, which Roy Jones picked up on in his commentating. Khan was actually boxing on the outside when Maidana clipped him in the tenth -- if I remember right, he was moving and jabbing, and instead of moving away from Maidana's power hand, he was moving directly into it. Maidana timed and countered him. If you look at the first round, Maidana hit him with the same shot even there...it was a hole in Khan's defence that almost cost him the fight.

There is a way to deal with that looping, overhand right -- aside from moving away from Maidana's power hand, a good boxer would probably use head movement to get under the shot. To be fair to Khan, he's got a tall frame, and bobbing/weaving isn't his style...but in that case, he can make sure to anticipate that shot whenever he moves around Maidana, and be prepared to block it or step back.

He'll also need to improve his infighting ability, but I think he's actually been working on that...notice that he KO'd Judah with a body shot in the pocket? I don't think I've ever seen that sort of thing from Khan before. I can't be sure, but I think I recall him also saying that they were working on that shot for ages, and even had it ready for the McCloskey match but never had the chance to use it. If that's true, then it's possible that Roach has learned from the Maidana fight and is trying to sharpen Khan's inside game.

This is a good analysis. Khan made some amateurish mistakes in the Maidana fight, and it almost cost him. However he has showed
noticeable improvements in the Judah fight, and I don't think he'll make the same mistakes again in a rematch. Especially not after Roach has had another year to work with him.

Maidana has the style to always give Khan problems, i don't think a rematch would be a mismatch.

It wouldn't surprise me if it were. Maidana is a crude brawler and he'll always be a crude brawler. Khan on the other hand, is a constantly improving, speed-based boxer.... and I'll tell you one thing. If these two met up again I sure as **** wouldn't place my betting money on Maidana, and neither would most of you.

It's interesting to see that some people think that only Kahn can improve yet Maidana stays the same. Time will tell it all.

In regards to the comments by Kahn, if he has nothing to fear, then he should make the fight happen. It's good business overall since true fans will want to see it and Maidana is the right candidate. Let's see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

a mismatch? I highly doubt that. maidana's chin is iron clad, and so is his will. maidana would have ripped into zab and mccloskey both like they stole something, so I don't get how you can come to that conclusion.

khan isnt that much ahead of maidana. he didnt beat him that clearly the first go around. it was a close fight with khan winning(that point deduction was bs). but overall maidana still presents his power andim sure he will pace him self different this go around. it would be a good fight but khan just stays talking ****.
